Annual Taos Garden Get Away
LettyTaoson 15/08/2017 21:18August was a wonderful time to be in Taos again this year!
The Casa Benavides B & B was beautiful as usual - helpful staff, delicious food, and lovely setting.
Consider visiting Taos the first weekend of August for the annual Garden and Home tour. It is fabulous!
Only negative this time around (we stay here every summer for 9 years) was the mattress in the Chimayo room was too firm for us. We have stayed in this room in the past and not had a problem. However, I would not stay in this room again. It's fine for someone who needs a very firm bed for their back, but that does not describe our needs.
Several of the other rooms we have staryed in have been comfortable (Cowboy room, Aztec, Guatamala, Genado Red, Frontier, Fechin, Blue Lady).
Another plus, however, the hot tub was great!
Great place!
Emily Mon 13/08/2017 06:52I get through Taos 5 or 6 times a year, and I try to stay at Casa B all the time. If you're looking for southwest decor and ambience, this is the place. Location, accommodations, and breakfast are first rate! Wonderful!
FANTASTIC!
Tim Lon 08/08/2017 21:58We took a month's vacation travelling around the canyon lands and we stayed at a lot of places and this was the best! We are Hilton members and stayed at Hilton's, etc. and still this was the best!
1. It is in a great location. We could walk very easily to anyplace in the arts and restaurant area. Very safe.
2. It had a superb, and I do not exaggerate here, breakfast. Fresh squeezed OJ,bacon, eggs, HOME MADE (you can watch them come out of the oven) pastries, cakes, etc. The breakfast area smells like what I think heaven smells like.:) They had a lovely big room for breakfast or you could eat on their patio.
3. They have an afternoon tea that comes with the room. There were 4 Hispanic ladies cooking in the kitchen. They were making HOME MADE wedding cookies, which were seriously addicting. They had HOME MADE cakes, cookies, -- all warm from the oven with coffee and iced tea or cold water.
4. They had a charming little area you could sit in and eat HOME MADE goods while watching the leaves on the Aspen tree spin and dance in the breeze or while reading your Kindle or playing on your computer. And we were there in July 2017 when it was hot - but not on their patio.
5. The service was excellent. Very friendly and accommodating.
6. Room was clean and big and there was a pole in the center of our room...Hmmm? We think it was from remodeling and a left over item but it did give our imaginations some real fun moments. (We are in our late 60's but we aren't dead!)
7. Just a wonderful, delightful, perfect spot.
8. It is an older property with a gravel parking area and the paint on the door to our room was cracked. And, of course, there was the pole...but we thought that added character!
9. We stayed here several nights and we loved it. We will absolutely stay here anytime we are near.
10. It says Bed and Breakfast but it is really a motel with lots of privacy but shared meals in that the meals are served over several hours and you eat when you want within that time frame. You have plenty of room to sit alone or to share a table as you please. This is the place of you want to fold into the location and just enjoy a wonderful stay.
Such a wonderful find
Racquel Hon 05/08/2017 01:49My best friend and I took the scenic route from Denver to Albuquerque. We rolled into Taos at 10pm on a Wednesday night and decided we wanted to spend the night. So glad we chose this place. Wonderful, clean room in a superb location. Breakfast was wonderful. I was SO sad that we had to miss the afternoon tea.
Excellent location, wonderful breakfast
STCon 03/08/2017 20:28It's got to be hard to keep up with all the maintenance at an historic inn, but the owners and managers seem to be up to the task. We had another very nice guest experience July 19 - 23, 2017. We like the location and the included breakfast service. We will continue to return to Casa Benavides again and again.
