A little bit of heaven!
loveymescoon 23/05/2017 12:39Casa Carly is an amazing place to stay when visiting San Miguel! Each casita is set up for maximum comfort and enjoyment. I recently stayed with 15 students for study abroad and the experience was excellent . The entire Casa is walled in brilliant colors with amazing plants. The casitas all open into the walled courtyard. Everyone is extremely friendly and it is an easy walk to the Hardin. Heading back for a third vacation soon.
Friendly but better value elsewhere
fwtraveller2015on 01/04/2017 22:52Leo was really friendly and helpful, and it was clean, but we had a few issues. The wifi was iffy - sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't (but Leo did reset it to try and get it up again). The road noise was really loud in our casita (#2) - the road is pretty busy and used by lots of trucks, and the doors aren't well sealed (one even had a crack through which you could see daylight) and face out towards the road, so it was a bit of a problem. The shower drain really smelled. As other reviews have mentioned, there is no central heat, but a space heater was provided. Also, purified water was provided but you couldn't drink or brush teeth with the tap water. It is close to Fabrica de Aurora, but a bit of a hike to everything else. A 15 minute walk doesn't sound bad, but it is pretty hilly there and doing it every day got old (obviously nothing they can do about this, just wanted to mention it for future people contemplating a stay here). The restaurant available for breakfast was mediocre and the tables weren't cleaned after previous guests. The courtyard was really pretty!
Mexican Oasis
myraevans1942on 13/03/2017 23:46We had friends who were thinking of staying at Casa Carly so we all were given a tour through a number of the lovely apartments. It is a good place to stay if you want to do some cooking and a little entertaining. The apartments are mainly one bedroom with a small sitting area and kitchen. Each unit has an outdoor patio. The decor is colorful and there is a lovely restaurant for breakfast and lunch. I would not advise taking an apartment facing the street because of the noise. Otherwise a delightful place to stay for several weeks or more- and a flat walk to Centro.
Excellent find!
Sophia Ton 04/01/2017 11:08Looking for a place that fit our requirements (near-ish to town, decent pricing and quiet) during holiday season was a challenge but Casa Carly was a gem! We were there over New Year's. The rooms at the back were quieter (so definitely ask for those if u need some peace) and there was a great organic restaurant / store (via organica) about 5 min away which helped us for our groceries needs as we made our own meals. They had a fully fitted kitchen with stove and utensils! And super friendly staff which always make the stay more beautiful!
Just had a great Menu del Dia Lunch
ResidentePermanenteon 01/12/2016 22:52Juana is back in the kitchen and the menu and hours have been extended to include a delicious menu del dia.
I had an outstanding red pepper soup accompanied by a generous basket of bread and orange marmalade and butter.
It was followed by an ample side salad of greens and julienned vegetables and avocado in a tangy balsamic dressing.
The tasty tacos picadillo (4) in corn tortillas were accompanied by diced potatoes and carrots with a dollop of sour cream and a dish of pico de gallo. Dessert was a somewhat bland slice of orange cake. Beverages are extra. The cost? $80 pesos.
An amazing price for the quality and quantity of food provided. There were two soups and three entrees offered.
I recommend sitting outside on the terrace in the pretty and relaxing garden. The tried and true breakfast menu established when the cafe first opened is still available with its range of egg dishes, hot cakes and breakfast drinks. I still recommend the cafe upgrades to a proper espresso/cappuccino machine.
