Amazing boutique house in Viana

Amazing stay! Great house close to Viana do Castelo with a lot of history and a charming family. Clearly "the" place to stay in Vianca do Castelo! Very nice rooms and pool, the old house where the familly stays is spectacular! Look forward to come again!

Gem a little outside of town

This is a family run hotel. They live in the beautiful main building and have converted other buildings on the expansive grounds to a hotel. The grounds are huge and walled in from the outside - beautiful and nice to explore. We had been told it is a bit far from the historical town center, but it was just a 10-15 minute walk and well worth exploring for a few hours. Breakfast is on one of the separate buildings on the grounds. Very elegantly done. The lady who took care of us was the from the family. She was a very nice host.

The minor knocks was that the free wifi did not work well and the room was a bit cramped.

A delightful retreat in beautiful surroundings.

Casa do Ameal (or Quinta do Ameal) is a charming, unique small hotel with glorious gardens and buildings. The rooms are lovely stone cottages set amongst grape arbours, walnut and citrus trees. The swimming pool and table tennis provided welcome activities for our child, and we enjoyed picnic meals outside our room at the stone tables provided. With a car, the location is fantastic for exploring both Viana do Castelo and further. A trip to Ponte de Lima is a must! The manager was friendly and gracious, as well as very helpful providing tips on the town.

A wonderful place. We'll come back soon.

Casa do Ameal is a precious jewel hidden in the outskirts of Viana do Castelo. Wonderful apartments, nice pool area, great breakfast, everything extremely clean, and, most importantly, fantastic hospitality. Easy walk into the wonderful old town. A supermarket next door, terribly convenient. Highly recommended.

Charming cocooning pousada in Northern Portugal

We had a very pleasant 4days-stay with our two children in one of the family rooms (two bedrooms, kitchen corner, sitting room). The cleanliness is impressive, all towels and sheet are changed daily, the rooms are spotless clean. The quietness of the rooms and gardens as well as the swimming pool give you the impression to be in the middle of nowhere but you are in fact right in the center of Viana. The only negative point is that you absolutely need a car to discover the town, the beaches and surroundings. We tried once to have a little walk but do not recommend it to people with children. The breakfast is a little light with restricted choice (we had to ask for supplementary juice, bread, yoghurt) - no eggs. However, the hosts are very charming and helped us with suggestions for restaurants and places to visit. Viana itself is not a spectacular town but you have nice beaches in summer and easy access to Spain or other spots in Portugal (Porto, Braga, Guimaraes). You have WiFi available, there is TV but only Portugese channels.
