Wonderful palazzo B&B in the centre of Bologna
ylemmeron 19/05/2017 13:02Tiziana welcomed us very friendly and prepared a wonderful (and big!) breakfast every morning. Great place to stay in the centre of Bologna – very much recommended! Quiet room, big bathroom and the experience of living in a original palazzo house in the heart of Bologna.

Great B&B close to the sights of Bologna
TezRazzon 18/05/2017 11:23We stayed for 2 days at this B&B and it was a great place to stay. Tiziana welcomed us warmly, gave us lots of recommendations, prepared fantastic breakfasts and helped us in every way possible. The rooms (four in total, 2 upstairs and not really suitable if you cannot do stairs easily, but the other two were fine) were very clean, comfortable and spacious. There is a shared lounge room, kitchen and dining room which we made use of and where we met and chatted with other travellers which was fun. The house is based in the university area, which is very lively, with a lot of people at all hours, and heaps of graffiti, but very safe to walk around at night, and there are lots of shops, pubs and restaurants very close by. A short walk brings you to the historical centre, and Piazza Maggiore where you can catch tourist buses and a sightseeing train to San Luca church (San Luca Express) which was 10 euro and highly recommended. Bologna is a food paradise and Casa Ilaria was the perfect place to base ourselves to explore it. Grazie!
Plain but central with lots of steps
Steve Don 18/03/2017 08:30This is a small hotel but easily found by taxis. It's a very brief walk to all the main attractions and restaurants. The hotel is approached by three sets of stairs and once in the hotel there are two bedrooms approached by a narrow partially open staircase that is difficult to get luggage up/down. It would not be good for small children or those with mobility restrictions. The room was large, plan and clean. The ensuite was large and functional but garishly decorated. First impressions aren't great. The welcome and breakfasts was outstanding - we were told all about the local restaurants and sites. The breakfast is plentiful but there are limited warm options such as toast, pancakes and eggs. There were delicious fresh local cakes and jams and fruit. We stayed for three nights and always enjoyed the breakfast. Breakfast is served on a long table so you have to like mixing! Outside you are in the student district so it's busy at night. There is graffiti outside the hotel but the upside is you always feel safe and there are always lots of people around. On a final note - it's a B&B and not a hotel even though it's listed as a hotel on Expedia. Overall we think you get what you pay for and we had a lovely long week end in what is a very fun city.
Wonderful hospitality
GiorgioMzon 13/03/2017 17:50We spent a great weekend in Bologna, made all the better by the wonderful hospitality of Tiziana at Casa Ilaria. I highly recommend this B&B. Clean, warm and cosy. Spacious rooms. Fantastic freshly baked cakes every morning (the whole house smells of them!) and brilliant location, in the heart of the city.
Very pleasant stay
Michpeeterson 24/12/2016 12:31We spent 5 nights in Casa Ilaria. The house is in an old house. It's very well situated: near restaurants and bars and at 10 minute walk from Piazza Maggiore. Despite the location (in the university area), it is very calm. The room is comfortable and well-equipped. We had a separated bathroom. However, that wasn’t a problem as it is private. The owner is very kind. She prepares home-made cakes for breakfast but there are also croissants, yoghurt, cereals, and toasts. These delicious breakfasts are one of the best assets of this bed and breakfast. If we’ll travel again to Bologna, we will certainly stay again in Casa Ilaria!
