What People are saying

Very quiet and lovely location

Phil-Angie2014on 26/09/2016 21:51

A great location with stunning views. Very peaceful and very well equipped. I strongly recommend Casa Lari if you want peace and quiet - but you will need a car as its somewhat remote. ideal for families who want a peaceful break with easy access to San Gimignano and Volterra.

Long weekend advice

Just came back and not sure if a 3 mark is fair - maybe a 3 and a half or 4 would be better.

Clean, well stocked kitchen facilities, very roomy, balcony - great view slightly hampered by a fence (only the ground floor flats), garage parking, air con, TV. To be fair a great value place run by the friendly and helpful Andrea. This was part of a Secret Escapes package from UK via Pisa flights.

50 miles from the airport - a lovely drive and a completely tranquil village setting in Pancole - you can only hear the stars at night - it s that peaceful!

3 miles from San Gimignagno where the bars, cafes, history and Co-op is.

Pancole has a dozen houses, a church, a single restaurant 50 yards up the lane and most importantly the Cesani vineyard selling stunning wines direct to you - get yourself down there!

If you drive, pop in to the Co-op and stock up on the way, you'll have a decent fridge, 4 ring hob, pots and pans etc - so eating in is no problem. No kettle! So boil you cuppa tea in a pan. Italian espresso maker and coffee is provided. Buy some meat and eggs if you want a hearty breakfast - or it's packaged toast and jam or honey for you sir!.

There is no shop in Pancole.

So why only a 3 or 4? The wifi drops out, the TV is pretty low budget, the pool was being rebuilt - but mainly - the bed and pillow. I thought about bringing in a terracotta coping stone instead of the pillow. 10 minutes with a kango breaker would soften the bed, or gather some old olive branches and make yourself a nest on the balcony.

It's the one thing that will stop me from returning. Hope your's is softer. If not, I can recommend the local wine to help you sleep!

Fantastic view

The view from this place was fantastic.
Very relaxing, clean apartments. Every room has a view. Located in the small town of Pancole. Just outside of San Gimingnano, and only an hour drive to Firenze.

Fantastic views!

Great place to stay to visit Tuscany. Few minutes away from San Gimignano. The rooms are comfortable and the view from the balcony one of the best we have seen while travelling around in Tuscany, great for breakfast or a glass of Chianti at night! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone going to Tuscany.

Magical!

This is the place that one always dreams of when you think of visiting Tuscany. Panicole is not a village but a cluster of houses along a narrow strip of road with a beautiful little church. It is a few minutes drive from the beautiful walled town of San Gimignano. They have a supermarket just outside the walls where you can stock up on foodstuffs. It is across from the parking area.

The property overlooks a valley of rolling hills dotted with olive groves and vineyards and little villages. We had the two bedroom apartment on the upper floor with steps leading down to the pool. At the front door you had a small table and chairs which looks over this little road and the villas on the other side with the hills behind. My large double bedroom en suite opened up onto a narrow patio with table, chairs and a convenient steel clothes rack.
The view from there was absolutely spectacular! We had our meals, our wine and coffees on the patio drinking in the view. The kitchen/living room was very spacious and very well appointed with a large diningroom table and chairs. Please note that there is no kettle!
It seems that this is not 'the Italian way,' so one has to boil the water on the stove.
Upstairs there was another twin room with shower. This has a balcony but unfortunately with a high wall which disrupts the view. This room is smaller and can get pretty hot in summer but with the air conditioner it was bearable. There was a cupboard there for one's clothes as there was in the downstairs bedroom. Both rooms were very comfortable. The showers were good and strong. The only major problem for both of us were the beds which were like a rocks and we could not sleep on them until we had covered the mattress with the 2 or three blankets on hand. Then it was much better and we slept well. I have already asked Management, Andrea, to change the mattresses! The property has its own undercover parking and each apartment has it own parking space. The airconditioning worked very well in all the rooms. A boon during the hot months!
Andrea was wonderful- always on call and happy to assist whenever we needed him. He also gave us very good directions and we found our way easily from Florence. He took our washing away and got it cleaned and delivered to us the next day and provided an iron and ironing board as well.
One thing..the walls are pretty thin and when sitting on the balcony one must talk quietly as the sound carries easily in this area. ( Beware honeymoon couples...!)
Maybe bringing earplugs might be a good idea. The wifi was a bit patchy sometimes but overall worked well.
The pool is small but adequate for a cooling down in hot weather and there are sufficient lounging chairs and tables and umbrellas for everyone.
Do yourself a favour and if you are there for a week, take yourself off to the quaint town of Greve in Chianti, to the Macelleria Falorni deli and restaurant on the piazza and stock up with superb wines,( a great wine tasting system) cheeses ( the truffle infused one is to die for!) olive oils, meats ( wild boar is delicious) and enjoy them on your patio. This village also has a good supermarket with underground parking.
Casa Lari has the peace, quiet and incredible beauty that one craves after a hard days driving and sightseeing.
Thank you Andrea! We will be back!
