Beautiful hotel
Monty10001on 20/05/2017 12:44Lovely boutique hotel situated a short 10-15 minute walk from the historic heart of Merida with it's attractions and restaurants. On a quiet street with a peaceful location. Once through the door you're in a shady open courtyard with fountains - a really pleasant place for breakfast or a drink from the bar. Service was generally excellent and breakfasts were also very good (though they do not offer any other food service). Rooms were comfortable and well furnished, but the bathrooms didn't offer total privacy within the room (they were not fully divided from the main part of the room, so using the bathroom sometimes required negotiation if you really wanted to be sure you couldn't be walked in or or overheard). The only slip in service occurred when the staff helped us arrange transport to a major local site that turned out to be closed on that day of the week (which is something that they should have known in advance). Definitely a nice a place to stay.
absolutely georgious boutique hotel
Ursula Mon 06/05/2017 11:34This restored house is aboslutely beautiful. I must say, that we had the 2 nicest and biggest rooms in the Hotel, which only has 7. There is a tiny courtyard with a dip pool where you can relax from the heat. The Walking distance to the old town is about 15 minutes, which can last in the heat of the town ! Merida is very laid back and nice, but there is in the view of tourists not that much to see. I would recommand only to spend one night. We had a nice chat with the bartender, while he prepared our welcome drink. The Hotel is rather expansive though.
lovely gem in Merida
Carla_on_the_goon 05/05/2017 22:06Walking to the gate does not give you much hope because it does not look like much, but once that gate opens it's a little nirvana. It's quiet, well maintained with spacious rooms (we stayed in the back/patio room). Yes, the shower does not give you maximum privacy but it is not a complete lack of privacy. The room is cool, quiet, has an amazing bed and the service of the staff we found was excellent when the (French I think) desk manager was present. With other desk managers the service was good but she really went above and beyond.
I can recommend this place to anyone. It is not in the centre but within walking distance.
Incredible
Thegoodnomadon 05/05/2017 00:02This place is truly one of a kind. I would highly recommend this to anyone who's interested in visiting the city of Merida and at the same time experience time-travel. This boutique hotel was originally the home of a local baron, the renovation work they did is nothing short of incredible and the place is just magical. You will enjoy the Mexican home style mixed with European influences, typical of the history of Merida.
The staff is extremely on point, Balthazar and his colleague Morganne were incredibly attentive and personable, top notch service, 24 hours a day. The rooms are equally beautiful, all different and you will certainly feel at home since there are just 8 unique rooms. The bar is also top quality, get the Martini Tamarindo with Tequila and you'll thank me profusely. You will also have access to additional services like in-room massage services or a guided tour if you wish.
I highly recommend Casa Lecanda for an unforgettable stay in Merida, where you can reach the beach (called Progreso) in about 25 minutes by car, or walk around town to see the cathedral and local artisans shops, or one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the archeological site of Chichen Itza (1 hr & 1/2 drive).
The hotel offers a very good breakfast but doesn't have a restaurant, which is a plus because it will force you to dive into the real world for an hour to then return and enjoy once again and fall in love with this Fantasy Island -meets-La Dolce Vita heavenly place. (PS: there is great food at walking distance)
Unbeatable experience.
Nice hotel honest staff
Ariestennisgirlon 03/05/2017 03:22Casa Lecanda is a beautiful boutique hotel. There are 7 rooms around a beautiful courtyard where there is a pool and tables for breakfast. The decor is traditional being the bathrooms very good. The staff is friendly and accommodating and I left a big amount of money on the bed and was surprised to be advised that it was found and left in the drawer. The decor is stunning and seems to be like traditional Merida style with European influence. The location is 3 short blocks from Paseo Montejo, the main beautiful street. Breakfast was a delight on open air terrace around the pool. It is very nice to return to the hotel after a hot day out seeing the pyramids to jump in the pool and freshen up or just lie in the hammocks. I highly recommend this property.
