What People are saying

Amazing experience

Rainer Oon 16/08/2017 17:54

Ever spent the night in an old museum? And be in a luxurious environment? This here is a great experience, very comfortable, large apartments equipped with everything you need. Great and very individualized breakfast in the morning for only 10 Euros - served in your apartment. Very friendly and helpful staff. And they even have a garage. I only spent a night on a trip to Croatia with my kids but I will come back to one of the most romantic towns with my partner.

Magical B&B, comfortable and good value

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this fascinating palace once belonging to the historical Gonzaga family. The owners and staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and well equipped (the aircon was the only negative - too loud and not very effective). The palazzo is only ten minutes walk from the historic and beautiful centre. Lots of culture to see and good restaurants to visit.

Mantua has a lovely atmosphere. It feels like a real town, not a tourist town. Despite being late July it wasn't crowded except for Thursday morning which is market day. Huge market of everything, including women's clothes for as little as €10 or €20 for cotton and linen dresses. Amazing!

VIP Reception and Stay

Unique experience in Mantova, Italy. This is a House/Palace in Mantova that harbors a Museum and a Hotel. Personal wellcome and tour by the owners of the House. A lot of interesting history. Our room was very large, more an apartment than a hotel room.
Centrally located in Mantua.

Tranquil Oasis in the middle of the town!

InTown_10on 28/05/2017 17:54

This is our second visit to Palazzo Valenti Gonzaga. This time we stayed in the basement apartment that was a spacious welcoming cool and calm oasis after a busy day in town. We enjoyed having the large space to ourselves and staying in such historical surroundings! The apartment was immaculate with beautiful, clean linens and rustic furnishings and a very comfortable bed. The location is easy walking distance to the historical centre of town. Breakfast included fresh fruit and a wonderful selection of pastries, meat and cheese. The hosts Rocco and Christina are true ambassadors for the Museum, and provided much information on the city and things to do. We truly enjoyed our stay in this unique apartment.

Worth the detour

We were intrigued by the description of the property on the booking site, and couldn't pass up an opportunity to spend a night in a palace, let alone a palace museum. We also wanted to visit Mantova, one of the northern Italian ducal towns rich with history and art that we had not seen previously. The Casa Museo met our high expectations, over-the-top in every way. The accommodation was magnificent and our hosts the proprietors were wonderful and wonderfully helpful. The town was all we hoped it would be, with ducal palaces, fortifications, museums and churches worth a detour to see, and without the crowds in Florence or the other more touristed destinations in the area. The locals do frequent the fine trattorias and ristorantes, so book ahead or when you arrive rather than just showing up and hooping there will be a table.
