Great location. Interesting, rustic decor
JasWilliamson 14/06/2017 18:22This B&B is a short walk from the archeological museum and park (which, by the way, is simply outstanding). We looked at two rooms downstairs, both of which had nice ceiling fans but no a/c, and two rooms upstairs, which have the roof as the ceiling but which do have air conditioning. We chose the upper rooms. Our room has exposed log beams with a finished wood ceiling. One outer wall is very old stone, but finished nicely around its edges with artful plaster. The other outer wall and the inner walls are plaster, nicely painted. The bath looks quite new, but is very small, with the sink and mirror under the slope of the roof. I cannot stand at the sink (standing at 5’11”, 180 cm), but must bend over to get close. The shower is quite small, about 24 inches square (60 cm), but the water is copious and hot.
Each room in this B&B has part of St. Francis’ Canticle to Brother Sun and Sister Moon painted on the door. Our room has the verse addressed to Brother Fire, and the head of the bed has part of that same verse cut into the painted steel, with a large, terra cotta likeness of St. Francis in the center. Fascinating.
The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning worked well. Some rumble of trucks driving by in the night, but it did not keep me from a good night’s sleep.
Nice breakfast of Italian pastries, with good American coffee. No regular black tea, though.
Stay...Relax and Enjoy
honeybb53on 20/10/2016 02:16Our three days in Paestum was made all the more enjoyable with our stay at Casa Rubini. This was nothing short of old world charm and most gracious hospitality. I cannot recall ever being more relaxed in any vacation spot. Our hostess Veronica prepared made to order breakfasts topped with the best cheesecake that I have ever experience and I am a lover of cheesecake. Our spacious room overlooked the intersection of the Porta Aurea and the easy pace of the traffic added to the overall ambiance. With the mountains to the east and the ancient Greek ruins to the the south the location could not have been more perfect. Yes this is some quaint old world charm removed just far enough from the main tourist area but still only a stroll away to the entrance of the park. Escape to Paestum and retreat to Casa Rubini, where in addition you can take a short bike ride to enjoy the surf and the sand where the ancients once roamed and called home.
Excellent location, welcoming staff and a roomy bedroom
Lubranon 28/09/2016 23:05We spent the day at Paestum visiting the incredible Greek Temples. We checked into the inn first and were greeted very warmly by the hostess. The room upstairs was spacious, one of only three in the inn. Breakfast was prepared tou our liking and we meet a friendly couple from our stay the evening before.
Little nice surprise
V Aon 27/09/2016 19:12We did not plan to visit Paestum, therefore the choice of the hotel for the, only, one night was taken at the last minute and quite rapidily. We read good comments on the place, we called and find out they had a room.
From the outside, the building may give a "weird" impression but it's just a matter of few moments, as soon as you enter and see how comfortable and familiar the little taverna downstairs is, you know that the impression is wrong.
The place is warm and cozy and the rooms furnished by someone with experience (we heard the wife of the owner is an architect). The girl who welcome us was extremily kind and efficient. We realized how close we were to the temples when we had a walk to the seaside; it was really nice in the evening to walk just two minutes to reach a good bar-restaurant and eat just in front of one of them.
Breakfast was good (plenty of home-made cakes) and the price almost ridicolius for what we get. Really a pity we could not stay longer.
Very nice stay in Paestum!
Claudia Con 13/09/2016 12:01It was really nice at Casa Rubini. The position of the house is great - just few steps from Temples. Veronica was the nicest person we met in Italy during our trip and her breakfast cakes are just delicious! This place is small but really cool and it has a great vibe.. I reccomend it for your stay if you stay in Paestum just few nights and you want to feel a great atmosphere. And the wifi in the room works- all the time!!!(Incredible thing in Italy😀😀😀)
Ci siamo trovati veramente benissimo nonostante la stagione e finita. La casa si trova pochi passi dai Templi, si puó parcheggiare subito fuori. Veronica é stata gentilissima e le sue torte per colazione sono straordinarie!
