Gastronomical paradise
m won 25/07/2016 10:44It was'nt the first time that we came here, and there is a reason for. Not only is the Umbrian landscape in this region super, there is no overflow of tourists, and there are a lot of beautifull little romanesque churches around, apart from cities like Perugia, Assisi, Spoleto who are all easy accessibel from Cerreto .
The principal reason for us to come back here is the superb kitchen of Luigi, master in bringing up to taste superb frech local products, preparing them up to a level that you rarely find and certainly not at this price. (Even the wines of his more than 2000 bottles is here at least 1/3 cheaper than nearby). Christine and Luigi, thanks a lot for al this, and for giving us the feeling we were at home. We hope to see you soon again....
A Spectacular Gem in the Heart of Umbria!
Lois Pon 22/03/2015 03:32I had the tremendous pleasure of staying at this beautifully restored noble mansion for a long weekend in October 2014. It is owned and run by the lovely couple, Luigi and Christine. Luigi is the main chef at the restaurant, La Cantina, which occupies the wine cellar of the mansion. The rooms are more like apartments, but the amenities and warm and friendly treatment by the owners make it feel like a hotel. Christine is a pastry chef and makes delightful breads and pastries for breakfast and dinner. I was treated exceptionally well by them both, and having their little dog, chloe on the premises made my weekend feel like staying with family. The outdoor patio area has a view that is worth the trip all by itself! Stunning does not begin to describe the gorgeous landscape and mountaintop vista! There is ample free parking adjacent to and nearby the apartment/hotel building. I had a rental car and had no problems finding a parking space whenever returning from my jaunts around Umbria day and night. Whether you are visiting the area to explore the shrines and birthplaces of Catholic Saints, such as St. Benedict, St. Scholastica, St. Rita, and others, or whether you are exploring the Umbria region's wineries or biking and hiking through the mountains and lush forest areas and plains, Casa Vacanza Piantamori is without a doubt an excellent value, comfortable, relaxing and easily accessible location to make your base.
Logistic notes: If you have a rental car, getting a GPS with maps of Italy is highly recommended. The drive is about 2 hours from Rome FCO. Casa Vacanza Piantamori is close to the highway and easy to travel to Norcia (20 mins), Cascia, Castellucio, Spoleto, Assisi, Siena, Florence, and Rome. Breakfast is included with your hotel stay. But dinner at the restaurant is not included. However, the prices are reasonable and the meals are gourmet, fresh, creative and filled with local offerings such as black truffles, local wines, and local fresh produce and meats.
Christine speaks French, Italian and English. Luigi speaks primarily Italian and functional English. Both do their very best to assist with any concerns and questions you may have.
Rocking
naddudeon 30/05/2014 20:40Best value in Italy? Yes. We had a two bedroom/bath with kitchen, and cooking equipment, with dining and sitting room three nights for 100 euro a night. Breakfast included. Cristina (sp?) is a great hostess that makes one feel like they are part of the family. If we lived in Italy, this would be on our list of get-aways. Centrally locate in the hill towns, we used this as a base to travel around sight seeing everyday. Well worth it. Say hi to Clio, their dog, for me. There is a small mercado across the piazza.
I don't think I could really do this place justice with words.
Swimming pool and fitness centre, ah, no. For fitness, walk the hill towns.

Wonderful and special gem in the hills of Umbria
DonovanFamilyon 15/10/2013 08:32We chose Cerreto di Spoleto as a place to stay so we could be in a small mountain village and enjoy the peace as well as be able to day trip to the nearby cities.
Casa Vacanza Piantamori was more than we could ever have expected.
Wonderful hosts took care of us and offered hospitality beyond our expectations.
Quickly settled our family into our spacious rooms and we quickly relaxed and enjoyed the space. Throwing the children into long showers after their drive up from Puglia - we discovered the amazing views from the main windows over the valley and hills. Very special.
Very spacious rooms and quiet. Perfect for switching off the world.
Christina and Luigi's restaurant and cellar was incredible - the food was the highlight of our month of travelling just to eat. Local tipica produce and wine. Wonderful surroundings in 'La Taverna' we enjoyed the next morning with breakfast of their own baked breads and pastries, espresso and wonderful delicate ricottas drizzled with berries.
We realised it would be special there when we arrived as I spied the most amazing library of cookbooks in the foyer. My mornings were spent quietly reading through a lot of these while I waited for my children to join us downstairs. Cerreto di Spoleto has some beautiful views and terraces as we walked around the town before our breakfast.
The dinners here were the highlight of our time through Italy. Wonderful, simple, produce driven food that surprised and comforted.
Amazing service from the owners Christina and Luigi. Our children still are talking about the cellar and their dog Chloe.
One regret - we did not stay longer.
Plan - next time we must revolve our next Giro d'Italia around staying here first as soon as we arrive then move down to Puglia for a few weeks and then finish our stay back here.
Wonderful and a highlight.
