Secluded, lush grounds, private beach...and 5 minutes from options
stephaniefE1721VDon 15/08/2017 07:43A wonderful getaway. Relaxed, laid back, beautiful views of the river inlet and lush, green tree tops. Orange, fig, almond and lemon trees on the 20-acre grounds that's are great for roaming. Staff is warm, personable and multi-lingual (English, Portuguese, German, French, etc). Rooms and public areas are cozy and very clean.
The private beach, a short walk through the property's lovely, wooded area, is worth visiting. Beautiful coves for exploring, soft white sand, privacy. The hotel pool is an alternative.
Be sure to catch a sunset drink at the lobby level bar-with-view
Oh so dated
Elvisliveshereon 14/08/2017 10:43Great location, but in such need of an update and modernization. To say this is a 4* is pushing it a bit. The staff helpful and pleasant. Clean but cracks are showing in bathroom tiles and no amount of polish will clean those taps! The food for breakfast was not our taste at all but the snack bar food was enjoyable. A note if you want to order a taxi in August - you can't! We had over an hour wait for one and in the end we drove down to Ferragudo which meant one of us couldn't drink. It would be helpful for the hotel, knowing that during the height of the summer taxis are few and far between to offer a shuttle which you would happily pay for.
You do not get everything you pay for
Gitta Kon 29/10/2016 13:43Ordered a room with sea view. Got a room on the ground floor with high vegetation in front. A small blue spot could be viewed in the distance when looking around trees. We complained but were told that this room was facing the sea and therefore was considered a room with sea view. We requested to change rooms but the management denied.
Beautiful location, very comfortable and peaceful
MFWilson59on 26/09/2016 15:26We loved the hotel despite a very bad start, there were overbooked on our arrival so we were given a "not our best room" for the first night, this turned out to be beds in a massage area, so there was no lock on the door to the gym and the gym shower and toilets were ours also. We were given a voucher for dinner with wine to compensate and next day we were given a sea view room at the end of the corridor which meant we had a corner with views to the side and the front. The views from the room were magnificent, the room was very comfortable and fresh. The hotel was busy and exclusively occupied by German visitors. It was very peaceful, if you want a lively atmosphere I would stay elsewhere, this is probably summed up by having no music at the pool. Breakfast was plentiful and adequate but not particularly exciting, the dinner we had was okay but dull and half board/full board would have been a disaster with all the great affordable restaurants in town. Best feature of the hotel- the pool and a stroll through the gardens to the gate which takes you straight on to Praia Grande- this was paradise- from here you can walk along the sands (or paddle) to the intimate village of Ferragudo. Would come back here in an instant.
Cheap towels and toilet paper
Celtic1313on 19/06/2015 19:18Checked in with my partner 6.30pm. No greeting other than you must pay now! Asked about local golf courses to be informed there were many but could not recommend one nor did receptionist( male) offer to book one for us. Went to bar to have a drink but no bar staff present. Went back to reception to request a drink !
Then to our room. Good views from balcony. Room dated. Air con very noisy as so old.
About to go to sleep when mosquitos began buzzing around my head. Phoned down to reception requesting some mozy spray. Told they did not have any. A thoroughly miserable night's sleep followed with numerous mosquito bites suffered by both of us.
To cap it all breakfast only commences at 8am and finishes promptly at 10am.
