A Convenient Place to Stay Outside Rome
Ian Ron 08/09/2016 23:44These are self catering apartments which are in an out of the way location - so first off, you need a car, and a good map (or memorise the route) to find the hotel. It's off the main road out of Pomezia to Pavona up an unmade road, and through security gates. Once there it's a nice complex with some very nice properties. The apartment/villa themselves are spacious and very well furnished and ours was over two floors, so very much felt home from home. The only let down for me was the kitchen facility which looked tired and was cheap ikea type units. But there's a dishwasher, fridge and enough space to cook.
The pool we used closest to our room was OK - not very big but enough to come back to to cool off after sightseeing, and do some sunbathing on loungers.
Be warned - this is the middle of nowhere, but there are plenty of restaurants in Pomezia as well as supermarkets to pick up your groceries. Close by is a water park, Castel Gandolfo, Ostia Antica and of course Rome, plus Castel Romano which we didn't visit with an adventure park and shopping area. It's also fairly convenient for the two Rome airports which is in part why we chose to stay here after two weeks touring around Italy. WiFi is only around the reception area.
Value for money way of visiting Rome
Simon Fon 16/08/2016 16:25There is not much I can write that has not already been written by previous reviewers but I can provide a balanced and recent addition. Like most reviews it is totally subjective, your experience will be totally dependant on what you are expecting. If you have seen their website you may be a little disappointed but given the relatively low cost of the accommodation it should not really be a surprise.
The Good:
You must have a hire car to stay here but, given that assumption, it is possible to get from your room to the centre of Rome in about 35 mins (car then train) and likewise be in the pool 35 mins after leaving Roma Termini! The Beach and fabulous local lake are also approximately 35 mins away by car.
Dil seems to run this place on his own and does his best to help when asked.
The room was nice enough with a reasonable kitchen and plenty of living space. The garden of the main house is really lovely to wander around in the evening and the owner throws a drinks party once a week to welcome the guests, a nice touch.
The not so good:
Our room was not really prepared for our arrival, the air-conditioning in our first room was ineffective, the television had no antenna cable and there was a shortage of wine glasses - critical holiday business. When we called Dil he was clearly upset, blamed the previous occupants and moved us to another room. Great, but I feel it should have been checked before we arrived.
The estate provides quite an Oasis to the surrounding area of Pomezia which lacks any charm, the area in highly industrialised, strewn with litter and crawling with hookers in the evening. That said the supermarket provides everything you need.
Overall:
If the same attention of detail was put into the rooms and amenities as has been done with the owner's garden this place could be a real hit - sadly it is just lacking the attention to detail that some will require.
A quiet place to rest your mind
Erika0416on 11/05/2016 14:59The manager Dill welcomed us and showed us to our room. Very clean and nicely decorated, the bathroom was even adapted for persons of reduced mobility. With the room, there was also a living/kitchen with a bed sofa that was already prepared for the other two guests in our company that would arrive later in the evening. The beds were super-comfortable! We even had our little private garden, and the big garden that was for the use of all guests was enchanting, very well kept and with its own vegetable garden. We took several walks in the beautiful garden to admire the settings. This is a real haven to rest your mind, and still it is not very far from the sprawling city of Rome. Breakfast was nice, it was served in a little house next to the main building. The two pools were not yet ready to use, given the time of the year and the cold weather that was just about to change. Thank you Dill!
A warm country style hospitality
Susan Con 02/11/2015 09:52We arrived, to be warmly greeted by our host and his staff. they had had a traumatic time with the news of death of the manger's mother that day and a power failure before we got there.
Despite the sadness and the difficulty caused by the power failure the comfort, space and cleanliness of our accommodation, and the delicious dinner that we were provided with elegant hospitality in the true dense of the word was very impressive.
If you want fresh air, lovely grounds and old fashioned kindness I could not recommend this place more.
It is NOT a hotel, it is a group of spacious, country apartments which would be suitable to stay a while and self cater.
