What People are saying

Fantastic seafood meals overlooking gorgeous blue water and rocks

MimiVoyage2012on 13/08/2017 14:06

We have been back a couple of times, and each visit in July is pure pleasure. Rest, thalassa-spa/massages, hikes or bicycling around the Island or simply sitting enjoying the sea view.
Try the fresh seafood, especially oysters. Try not to eat all the desserts... delicious, especially the crème de caramel au beurre salé...
Good visits: Musée Citadelle Vauban, Sarah Bernhardt's home, Lighthouse, private garden: Jardin de la Boulaye.
Order special glasses/objects at "Fluïd" - creative local glassmakers.
Even the ride to/from the mainland is enjoyable.

Outstanding - worth a detour

Absolutely fantastic view and dinner venue, exquisite wine cellar, very friendly and service minded staff.

All this comes at a cost, but we felt very well taken care of, and just to picture the level, once heading back, the Castel Clara chef recognised us on the ferry leaving Belle Ille, and specifically came forward and treated us, hoping our stay had been what we wanted etc.

I am a bit surprised that in an establishment like Castel Clara English is not so well spoken (including spa brochures) even though we both speaks French as well, it did not pose a problem.

Nice surroundings and very relaxing, small nice villages. We will go back!

Room with nice view but noisy

We stayed at a junior suite, overlooking the bay. We were very lucky with the weather, big blue sky and expansive sea view. However, the room was right above one of its restaurants. It could be very noisy in the evening. Dinners often finished around 10.30pm. We were charged over € 450 a night, but could not have quiet time. The room has a balcony, but is overlooked by dinners downstairs. No privacy at all. Breakfast was alrigit, enough choices. We also tried the seafood buffet. Unfortunately my partner had stomach upset the second day. As it was very warm, there were flies flying around the seafood.

Amazing location, but don't hope to loose weight

The hotel is fine and the staff is polite and helpful.
Spa & Thalasso are also good, but not all their practitioners have same level of experience. I was disappointed with 1 massage out of 3.
The biggest downside of its hotel is the fact that there is no light menu for diner. Most of the Thalasso I have visited lately already have integrated light 400-600 calorie 3 course options into their menus (that taste delicious by the way). This one proudly announces that it's diners are between 800 and 1200 calories. Don't know about you, but for me it is quite a lot especially if you plan to have a healthy time off and go to bed early feeling light.
Nevertheless the food in the restaurant 360 was rather good and Desserts were really a piece of art that I had no choice, but to consume ;)

Beautiful location, amazing staff

Our family of four just returned from a 13 day trip to France of which Castel Clara and Our four days on Bele Ile en Mer were the highlight. We experienced travel difficulties on both ends of our stay at Castel Clara. Flight delays, car rental delays, and the six hour sprint to Quiberon just in time to catch the last ferry had us reaching our destination just befor 11:00 PM. (our original target had been 4:00) We were warmly met with a fantastic late meal and a glass of wine on the balcony of our lovely room. The morning of our departure, one family member was ill and the management and staff were extreamly helpful . Helping us with pharmacy needs, providing late departure, communicating with our next hotel, and changing ferry reservations. As if that were not enough, our daughter left a beloved stuffed bear which they promptly had shipped home. Aside from this special attention to our particular fiascos, we love this hotel. The rooms were beautiful, great beds with crisp linens, ample well designed bathrooms. Breakfast is massive and delicious, and our evening meal at thier restaurant was memorable. And I say without hesitation, every member of staff we encountered was warm friendly and very helpful. Our four days could not do justice to the rugged coastline and charming fishing villages of this special island. Nor did it allow for enough time to simple sit on the comfortable deck and just absorb the beautiful view and warm atmosphere. We look forward to a return trip.
