Amazing Stay !
Marco_Sydneyon 15/05/2017 13:54We spent an amazing long weekend in the gorgeous property just few km from San Gimignano centre.
I would like to thank Serena and Chiara for the great and warm hospitality.
Highly recommended, we will go back!!
Fantastic place to stay
evcoleon 24/08/2016 14:38Stayed here with on a family break sadly only for 2 nights, the host, Gianmarco, could not be more helpful, rooms were excellent, spacious with a kitchen etc. more than enough space to make them comfortable and excellent views over the Tuscan countryside. Didn’t get the chance to eat in the restaurant as we were holidaying with friends and so we cooked and dined in each others rooms/apartments, we did however have a couple of dishes as takeout, excellent.
Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a base in the Tuscan region, San Gimignano, Siena, Florence etc. are all a short drive away, a car is of course essential given its location.
On the list for next time.
Heavenly spot but remote
QBHoyleon 15/08/2016 10:16The location is amazing, at the top of a hill, with 360 views, approached by a dirt road, surrounded by olive trees, and views across the valley to Saint Giminagno, what more could you ask for.....
A beautiful pool area, great sun beds and umbrellas, and a lovely restaurant ( separately owned) with a terrace with all of the above plus sunset views, open 6 nights a week, do book or you maybe disappointed.
But ..... these units are exactly that, rustic and very basic, nearest available supermarket twenty minutes each way, not so much as a teabag is provided, 2 rolls loo paper, and everything including dishwasher tablets
you need to bring. There is room service once a week. The office is open very sporadically, as one guest said, you are on your own up here!
So no cafe, no breaky or lunch place, €5 a head to rent pool towels, €5 a washing machine load, honestly I would go back again with a bunch of people and very organised, but it is totally BYO everything!
The upside is there is a lovely courtyard area at the front which was communal. The others staying when we were there were extremely social, and we wound up several night with a bunch of international people sharing food and wine, and having a great time.
Easy for San Gimignao, extremely scenic and very beautiful part of the world!
Best restaurant and hotel and recommended by locals!!
diadouron 14/05/2016 21:10We asked the locals where the best restaurant was and they sent us here. We got lost a bit since it's in the heart of vineyards near San Gimignano. Part of the road is gravel, but when you get there, it is breathtakingly beautiful. The restaurant and pool overlooks the hills of Tuscany and the food was phenomenal. Try their 1 lb. steak and their wine Valiano Poggio Teo Chianti Classico....loved it!!! I give it an extra star for price! Can't find it in the U.S. though. Enjoy!!!
The devil is in details
Globetrotter Lon 31/07/2015 15:03The Castello is on the top of a hill "lost" on a tiny dirt road.
Reaching the place is not an issue as the location on the site drives you there with accuracy. The view from the Castello over San Gimignano and the nearby hills is absolutely breathtaking.
The property consists of superb olive trees, surrounded by vineyards with a beautiful garden around the Castello and an amazing swimming pool : long, nice, with quality amenities and this gorgeous view over the nearby nature.
The restaurant serves dinner only. It's worth the visit.
Our apartment was rather spacious with high ceiling up to the roof. View from our windows still was this breathtaking overlook over the hills that can be mesmerizing for hours especially at sunset.
Renovation works are nicely done in some parts of the building, for the rest I will let you decide...
The appartement as well as our stay was at times irritating due to a lack of attention to details and an unfortunate lack of focus on customer needs.
(very) Limited Wi-Fi access to only one tiny portion of the apartment when the Castello is presented with full Wi-Fi access.
4 chairs when you reserve an apartment for 5 persons, limited tableware, no coffee machine (when so many competitors provide you with a Nespresso machine), defective fridge, slippery tiny stairs to the mezzanine, limited impact AC not mentioning lack of attention to decoration in a country where we have witnessed the best.
Providing guests with ideas about what best to do around : trecking, biking, where to rent bikes or Vespas, hidden treasures nearby... would have been helpful.
We rate the place only "average" despite such beautiful surroundings for this lack of attention to details that kept being a bit frustrating compared to our experience at competition for similar prices.
