We spent 3 nights at the hotel celebrating my birthday - attentive staff, wonderfully comfortable room. beautiful grounds, charming a bit gloomy) castle. Excellent personable service. Restaurant Equus has a new energetic creative chef and new menu that delights the pallet and satisfies expectations for a special dining experience. I am certain that with time and Keith Suarinos energy and creativity it will only get better.
We had a lucky opportunity to speak to Lloyd Nakano - general manager and felt his commitment to raise the level of service to even higher standard, his experience in the industry and dedication is most certainly reassuring. Perhaps, one day it will come close to the what we have enjoyed at Sankara in Yakushima Japan :) Exciting things are happening. Staying here, absolutely worth the time and money. we would love to visit again in the future and see the changes.

Disappointing

The grounds of this hotel are so beautiful and in a great location just outside of NYC with a full service salon available right on grounds. Unfortunately that seems to be the only appeal to this particular hotel. I spent a weekend there for a "girls weekend" away and we booked massages at the salon, which we were only able to choose from a couple basic options as we were trying to book within a couple weeks of our trip which was the beginning of many disappointments here. Apparently you can only book most of their options if you have at least a couple months advance notice so make sure you call if you decide to go and be able to reschedule your entire trip should their facilities fail again. This place charges max luxury hotel prices for a basic, outdated hotel which has less amenities then more common, affordable hotels. This trip was so disappointing and this hotel spa was so disgusting. It took me a lot to complain to the manager because I hate complaining about things they are probably aware of already but I felt the need to give the manager my list after the final straw of seeing ants all over under my feet as I changed from my robe to my clothes. I could have dealt with the empty water dispenser, dirty, foaming hot tub from the broken filter, the broken shower heads (2 out of the 3 I tested were broken) and the broken steam room (the reason for booking a spa weekend here was to use this main feature as most hotels can offer hot tubs as a free amenity but I was excited to try a steam room to have a real "spa" experience but ants all over the floor where I'm changing was too much for me. The response I received from the spa manager was so disappointing also and I can't stress enough that there are so many hotels that would be in a better location and offer better amenities then this place for significantly less money. They are trying to use their "castle" theme to get by and apparently let everything else they offer become secondary and unimportant.

The shower head I used there was broken and the hot tub filter wasn't working so the tub was filled with a grimy, foam that was all over the sides, I took a towel and wiped just a small amount of foam away and was so disgusted I couldn't use it anymore. I was most looking forward to using the steam room and on our way to the hotel the day of check in we got a call saying this feature is not working for our weekend there which was super disappointing. Also in the locker room I pointed out that there was ants all over, literally making piles of food droppings into their home which is absolutely unacceptable to me. I expected the manager to be slightly appalled at this list of problems I pointed out but he obviously couldn't care less and it stopped us from paying to use their facilities for the rest of our trip which is literally the only thing to do at this hotel. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. The room service menu was pathetic and so limited and overpriced for the most basic of items but a short drive town offers many bars and restaurants.

The salon was disgusting. I literally brought a list of problems to the manager and was just told some excuse as to why things are in such a state, he said that because there's women in back all day using their facilities that they aren't able to properly take care of these issues. Then I just paid my dues and went on my way feeling very like he really couldn't care less and will not be looking next into any of the several issues i brought up. He could have at least acknowledged my concerns by saying "I understand" or "I'm sorry" instead of blaming the woman using the faculty getting in the way for maintenance. But these issues were the really there long before I stepped foot there and probably
are ongoing. Do not book here!! You will have a better experience at another spa and any other comparable hotel, I'm certain.

Just Lovely!

The Castle Hotel & Spa is simply lovely. We attended a wedding here and stayed overnight. The following morning's brunch was excellent. The staff is great and accommodating and the location is spectacular. There is a lot to see in the general area of Tarrytown, I would definitely go back!

NICE TREAT

diva con 25/06/2017 21:18

Good to get away for a weekend.....don't expect a huge gorgeous pool....good enough to sit calmly and read. The garden is nice, but felt it was small. Rooms are ok, now the suite is nicer ofcoarse, it has a little living room, and bathroom is big. It has an elegant entance, and restaurant is nice and elegant. The patio is a nice area sit sit and enjoy a drink...

Gorgeous place to have a wedding outside, or the event room, and have your party stay i the hotel with you.

The spa offers different nice treatments.

For the price, I exoected more in the rooms and grounds to be spacier.....more place to walk around and enjoy nature I guess.

Special occasion

abarasolon 24/06/2017 14:46

Due to the extremely expensive nightly rate, Castle Hotel is good for a special occasion. The rooms are large with nice amenities. Staff quite pleasant. Only negative was spotty wifi. The view of the Hudson was great.... Unfortunately we could not enjoy the grounds due to inclement weather.
