Wonderful accommodation and location

This is the most wonderful place to stay with everything that you could possibly need.
We had a three bedroom villa. All bedrooms were en-suite with an extra downstairs toilet as well! We also had our own reasonable sized pool.
Fantastically furnished and very modern, including very good wi-fi. The kitchen had everything: oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker and every utensil that you could think of. The only thing we couldn't find was a pizza cutter! There was an outside utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and drying line.
By the pool there were two barbecues. One brick built-in and the other a Weber. All of the utensils and items that you needed were provided.
The apartment was regularly cleaned, including the pool and there was excellent air conditioning.
We had a couple of minor niggles when we arrived but they were very swiftly dealt with.
There was plenty of space and everything was so comfortable.
There was a lovely covered area by the pool for sitting out and an balcony area outside the main, upstairs bedroom. There were also a number of loungers and large umbrellas by the pool for sitting in the sun.
This is probably the best and well equipped accommodation that we have stayed in.
Also, it is only a few minutes from the main A22 which runs along the Algarve making it very easy to get to different places e.g. Zoomarine was 45 minutes away. It is right next to the Spanish border so you can go there as well.
Highly recommended.

We stayed for 2 weeks in one of the self catering villas. The villas themselves are nicely furnished and well laid out. Everything you need is provided bar a couple of things from the kitchen like oven gloves - but you can manage without!! Each villa is equipped with a juicer and a coffee machine with the capsules available at reception and the supermarkets. We stayed in the villa 3 complex.

All the villas are around 2 minutes walk from the pool area. Pool area is very clean and plenty of beds - however, weekends do get very busy by the pool! The snack bar is well run and has lovely staff.

Reception and the clubhouse are great. Food in the clubhouse is lovely and quite reasonable. Any problems we encountered, we just rang reception who couldn't do enough for you. One thing to mention is that the clubhouse is a 10-15min walk away from the villas and is it quite hilly.

If you are staying here you do need a car as there is nothing within walking distance.

Ants are a problem in the villas themselves so take food bags a they literally get everywhere!

Overall we had a relaxing stay here and would definitely go back.

We stayed in a Linked Villa - which was wonderful - spacious and very luxurious. The private pool was lovely - bigger than we expected. The clubhouse was fantastic and the two golfers in our party loved the courses. Could not fault anything. The staff were all friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Marvellous!!

We visited "The Village" at Castro Marim in June (2017) with our three children.

Location
The Village (consisting of around 60 Villas) is separated from the Golf Course and Club House by a distance of about 1/2 Kilometer. Both are about 3 miles from the village of Castro Marim in the Eastern Algarve.

So, firstly to address whether you need your own transport? That very much depends on your holiday plans. If you're looking for seclusion with the odd trip to the beach, I think you'd be very happy to stay in the village and take the courtesy shuttle to the beach. If that's your choice, you'll want full-board here, as there are no shops close to the village accommodation. If you're looking for more than that (i.e. want to self-cater and tour around at your leisure), there's no doubt - you'll have to hire a car.

Facts
The Village itself consists of around 60 Villas, a Pool Area and a very small children's playground. There is a security watch-man keeping an eye on things at night-time.

We stayed in a 3-bed, two-story, detached Villa (all seem to be detached). These Villas all have air-conditioned rooms, four bathrooms (three en-suite with bath & shower), one ground-floor patio area and one first floor balcony area. All bedrooms have flat-screen TVs and all have double-doors and insect nets. The kitchens are well equipped with washing-machine, dishwasher, fridge, oven, hob and microwave. All windows and doors also have electric shutters. Also, contrary to other reviews, service is available at the Villas (change of towels, etc) if you stay at the Village for one week or longer.

The Pool Area is within a couple of minutes walk from any of the Villa's. It consists of one large pool (which slopes from 1 meter to 2 meters in depth) and two baby pools which are both very shallow. The three pools are surrounded by sun loungers and umbrellas. As the pool is located in a lower-lying area, with tree's planted around it, it's possible to hide from the sun at different parts of the day. There is also a changing and shower area (men's and ladies separate), an outdoor shower and a pool bar. The pool bar serves soft drinks, alcohol, snacks and ice-creams. It has indoor and outdoor (with shade) seating.

Experience
We absolutely loved the place. Overall, the house was excellent. Everything felt really clean and was very well maintained. We did have some ants in the Kitchen and one of the Bedrooms, but 10 minutes after reporting the problem, it was solved.

The Pool Area was clean, very well kept and the service at the pool bar was excellent.

We also ate at the restaurant in the Club House one evening and that was pretty much faultless too.

We will definitely return to Castro Marim.

Really interesting course, stunning views. Well maintained. 3 nine hole separate courses. Very difficult to play stapleford all in all very nice course. We played as a 3 ball with buggies. Very friendly staff.
