This is not a luxury hotel but clean, well located and with great views over the port of Maó. Rooms are simple, clean and with all the important things, including amenities.

The breakfast is good and complete with natural juices available.

Service was kind.

Important to ask for a room with views.

Overnight before flying home

Booked this for one night having spent 10 days in Arenal. Staff were very good, views were excellent. pool nice in the garden area. Up a hill so lots of climbing steps. Thought the room rate was expensive but this is Mahon! Overall enjoyable. Good Breakfast

Great place to stay

This hotel must surely have the best view in Mahon! Looking out on to the golden sandstone of the historic convent and the deep blue of the harbour is a fabulous way to start and finish the day in the restaurant or in the bar. Our room was fine, the pool and garden were lovely and the quiet position was still very convenient to all parts of the town. We were very happy with our choice for a 4 day break.

A horrible experience

It is the first time I use a website to give my opinion about something. But I think what happened to my girlfriend and I have to be known to avoid this to happen to other people.

My girlfriendand I were in the Catalonia Mirador des Port Hotel during 4 nights and it was an absolutely DISASTER.

We arrived on July 13th very late in the night because we had to work that day and we went to pick up our rental car. When we got there the hotel workers told us they have a premium room prepared for us. We only had booked a room with sea views so we thought it was a perfect change. We paid and we went to the room. When we entered in we saw everything full of bugs, they were all over the room: on the floor, in the curtains and even on the bed!! They were cockroaches, beetles and these smalls bugs that here in Spain we call “Bichos Bola” or “Balls bugs” literally in English.

Obviously, they changed us to other room and even if it wasn’t as good as the one we had paid for, we accepted the change for that night to avoid sleeping accompanied by bugs. Next day, we woke up very soon to take advantage of the day and manage with the reception the problem. They ensured us that our first room had been fumigated and it was perfect. Again, we packed our stuff and we change the room.

We were really surprised that night again: we came back from having dinner at 2 in the morning and we found the room exactly alike the first day, or even worse. Full of bugs all over the room. For the third time we changed to other room. And again, it was much worse. Next day morning, the hotel decided to give us a room in the first floor. It didn’t have sea views or any service we had paid for.

That night (finally) we didn’t have any setback. Reception workers asked us to wait until Monday morning to talk to the Hotel Director to get a solution. But on Monday, when we went there, the Director girl didn’t want to received us!!! Completely UNPOLITE…Through a receptionist she offered us 80 euros. But it wasn’t enough to cover everything we lived there: not only we found our room full of bugs 2 continued nights but also we slept in 4 differents and cheaper rooms than the one we had booked in first place.

Us you will understand, all this problem made us to lose our time during 3 mornings of our 4 free days in the island. And it also forced us to packed our stuff 3 different times when in Menorca, time departure to the beach is essential to have a place to park there.

I upload some pictures of the bugs to make you understand we are not cheating on you. Note that the picture you can take with a phone is not the same as seeing, for example, your baggage surrounded by more than 10 different bugs.

I do not recommend you to book this hotel!! Its expensive to the service they give to the clients and the attention of the workers is terrible: they are unpolite, no effective and no helpful with the guests problems, and the most important thing, you do not know what will you find in your room. Of course you guys can find much better accommodations in the Island and with a fair price.

Classic Spanish hotel with excellent staff

We stayed a single night here on Monday 17th July (11 poeple in all) and it was excellent. Don't be put off by the slightly unappealing outside appearance of the hotel.The hotel is accessed via a staircase down from the street and is well furnished with good quality rooms, a spacious reception and bar area with a beautiful view over the port, and a great veranda for enjoying an early evening drink. The hotel also has a good sized, private pool set in its grounds. The short walk into the centre of Mahon from the hotel is easy and almost level.The Reception staff were all very friendly, and efficient. The breakfast was extremely good, with an extensive choice of Spanish meets, cheeses fresh fruit etc. The bar staff were also very good and when one of our party of 11 left behind their luggage (me!) it was discovered by the groundsman who returned it to reception ready for me to collect(after a panic!). I recommend this hotel.
