What People are saying

Barely a three star hotel

Pjay99on 06/08/2017 15:43

That blue sign on the picture says "36 newly refurbished rooms". Refurbished with the cheapest furniture known to man. We were booked here for 5 nights on a tour and dinner was included on two nights. Where to start? The mattress was horrid, most of the tour group complained about lack of comfort and no sleep. No A/C and our room got hot. We had to open the window wide and there was no screen and it was too close to the parking lot so I was worried someone would come in at night. I had to ask to have the clumps of mold removed from the bathroom. Narrow stairs and no lift. Staff running around in dishevelled clothing. The dinners were almost inedible. Breakfasts were average. Some lights in our room worked, some did not. The carpet on the way to the breakfast area had not been cleaned in years. The reading lamps in our room were light bulbs on a stick. The the main room was under-lit (gloomy) but the bathroom had 50 thousand watts of light. Not great for a midnight visit (the mini light did not work). My favorite moment was when I asked for a chardonnay wine refill at dinner, the hotel manager asked "is that red or white".

Will stay here again

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and could see that it has improved from our stay five years ago. The staff are very friendly and obliging and we were lucky to stay in the bridal suite. This is a large room at the top of the hotel. It has a large bed and jacuzzi bath but no windows. It has a large glass dome skylight in the roof which lets in enough light but unfortunately it lets in the early morning light as well which could wake some people up. It didn't affect us though. Yes it does look tired in places but the pluses for the hotel outweigh the minuses and we will definitely stay here again.

Hotel in good location needing more tlc and upgrade

Good location for exploring Lichfield. We had a quiet room right at top of hotel without a lift, which could be challenging for some. With no air con we were able to open windows without traffic disturbance, which was good. Obvious renovation taking place under new ownership. Excellent breakfast and helpful staff.

Very short walk to city and restaurants

Great access to the city, restaurants, cathedral and shops.
We enjoyed our overnight stay, our room was adequate, bathroom clean and bed linen also clean. Our room was at the back of the hotel, so fairly quite away from the road. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Our breakfast was excellent, a very full English breakfast, plenty of juices, cereals and continental type items. Tea, coffee and toast in plenty. Waiting staff very helpful.

Great hotel at a good price

Stayed over just for the one night. Booked via booking.com and got a double with breakfast for a reasonable price. Room was we'll presented and clean. Breakfast was great. Friendly staff. Quite local to town.
