Cathedral Peak Hotel offers the best mountain experience of all Drakensberg resorts we have visited so far. You cannot get any closer to the mountains! Awe-inspiring views from the hotel. You park you car the day you arrive at the hotel and only fetch it again the day you depart - no need to drive anywhere!
The hiking trails are stunning with a range of difficulty levels to cater for all. All hikes start from the hotel. Experienced guides are provided for the longer more strenuous hikes (hiking to Cathedral Peak summit is a must for all the fitness junkies!) but there are also a bunch of shorter hikes that can be tackled on your own. Breathtaking views from all the hikes!!!
If you are not into hiking, there are many other activities to keep you busy even if you just want to enjoy the beautiful gardens and amazing bird life.
Breakfast & Dinner don't get much better than Cathedral Peak - huge buffets, excellent catering!! Staff are all very friendly. Cathedral Peak is doing their absolute best to make your stay a memorable experience.
If you want to experience the beauty of the Drakensberg and also getting spoiled rotten at the same time - book yourself at least 3-4 nights into Cathedral Peak Hotel.

Everything about this hotel is 5 star. Excellent amenities, great rooms, fabulous food and very friendly staff. What more could you ask for? Nearby helicopter flights over the mountains are well worth while. There are numerous mountain walks. The local guides are well trained and we strongly advise you to use one if you intend to walk on the mountain.

This hotel is set high up in the heart of the Drakensberg Mountains overlooking a lush valley with a river running through. There is enough wildlife and birdlife to see on the property. There are demarcated walking and hiking trails. The hotel rooms are in dormitory or barrack style- the latter detracts somewhat from the grandeur of the setting. There is an old part and a new section. I spent a night in a room in the well worn old section. The room is large and comfortable, but not spectacular by any means. The restaurant provides very decent and enjoyable meals. The staff are warm and friendly. Facilities include a pool. Superb destination to enjoy the surrounding Drakensberg Mountains.

A majestic hotel surrounded by majestic scenery. Only slightly old school stuffy, there is fabulous hiking on the doorstep, not to mention golf or mountain biking, archery...Food is generally very good and definitely plentiful

Located in the heart of Drakensburg, Cathedral Peak Hotel is a perfect Mountain resort. Offers a lot of hiking activities around the place and you can come back a great restaurant treat. Vast spread for breakfast and dinner.
We thoroughly enjoyed the weekend trip to Cathedral Peak from Johannesburg.
