Joan Son 30/05/2017 22:50Very large property with free parking.
Our room was comfortable and clean. Staff was friendly and the kids loved the indoor pool, although the jets in the hot tub did not work. There is also a room with exercise equipment that we did not use, so can't rate.
Continental breakfast was disappointing- not well stocked and not a lot of choice.
There was no hot water in the hotel the morning after we arrived (was fixed same day) and wi-if was very slow. Some of the lobby furniture was a bit tired.
Overall- ok but nothing to rave about.
AVOID AT ANY PRICE!!! TERRIBLE SERVICE, RUDE ATTITUDE AND USELESS STAFF
640gracehon 29/05/2017 07:57This hotel is failry large, but spread out over a large footprint so about half of the hotel is very inconvenient...it's a five to seven minute walk from some of the rooms to the front desk. At check-in, there was a line at 10 at night. There was more than one person standing at the desk and yet only one person was handling check-in. One woman just stood there chatting with the security guy the entire time people were waiting. A man was complaining the internet wasn't working while I was checking in. The woman at the front desk told him it should be working, but in any case she couldn't offer any solution and nobody actually attempted to reset the server or fix the issue. Of course, we were assigned the single farthest room from the front desk in Outer Siberia. After loading the luggage and traveling to Outer Siberia, I had to trek all the back down to the south pole to return the luggage cart. While I was there I commented to one woman at the front desk that the room was quite inconveniently located. She made no apology and simply quipped that they have no control over how the rooms are assigned. (WTH???) I asked if I wanted to switch rooms then what...she again quipped that this was not possible as they have no control over how the rooms are assigned. RUDE! After the twenty plus minute round trip to get back to the room, I try to get ice...the ice machine and the vending on our floor is not working of course, so have to go to another floor to get ice...so only a trip to inner Mongolia from outer Siberia and back. After I settle in to the room, I tried to access the wifi. NOT! You can connect to their network but you don't actually connect to the internet. I called down to the front desk and she claimed that someone complained about it earlier but there's nothing she can do so check back tomorrow. (SERIOUSLY?!?) The internet worked around 7 pm in the evening the next day, but quit working after say 11 pm. Again, useless complaint to front desk produced no results. Sunday was the straw that broke the camel's back though...we were here for a tennis tournament that my daughter was playing in. She finished her first match and we needed to get back into our room so she could change for her next match and grab a quick bite. We made the 7 minute trek from the entrance to outer Siberia and the keycards don't work. I leave my daughter stranded out in the hall on the floor and make the 7 minute trek back from to the south pole from outer Siberia. The woman asks me if I would like to speak to the manager about the issues. I give hime my laundry list of complaints about what has happened so far and he just writes it down, but offers no real apology, no compensation and no solutions. I get new keys from the front desk and make the trek back from the South pole to Outer Siberia. The keys don't work and the electronic light is not even lighting up. I suspect the actual lock is broken. I call the front desk from my cell phone rather than making the South Pole-Outer Siberia round trip again as time is running out now and I have to get my daughter taken care of and back to her tournament. The manager says he will bring up new keys, I tell him I don't believe that this is the issue. He says he will bring new keys up anyway, It takes him too long to make the South Pole to Outer Siberia trek so we need to leave and get back to my daughter's tournament. We run into him in the mile of hallway from our room to the elevator. I tell him I don't have time to hang around anymore and he says that he'll make sure the key/lock problem is taken care of by the time I come back and that he'll have the keys waiting for me at the front desk. This is at 10 am in the morning. Just to get to this point I have wasted 45 minutes in the hotel without ever getting into my room, getting my daughter fed or anything. GRRRR. We eventually return to the hotel a little before 6 pm. I stop at the desk and no keys are waiting. She makes new keys again and I make the South Pole to Outer Siberia trek only to get there and find that the keys still don't work and the lock is still not lighting up. I leave my daughter once again stranded on the floor in the hallway and I go back to the South Pole to complain and let her know that the morning manager had said this would be taken care of and she says she knows nothing about it. I tell her the lock is not working, it is not the keys. She says she'll send security up to meet me. I make the trek back to Outer Siberia...and wait for the security guy. He brings no tools, just tries to use the key cards they made me, which of course don't work! The he tries his "skeleton key" key card, which of course doesn't work...hello?! Rocket scientist, the lock isn't lighting up when you slide the key cards in!!!! He says he has to go get a screw driver, the batteries might need replacing. He now has to make the Outer Siberia to South Pole trek round trip and we are stuck in the hall waiting for him to do so. He does this and comes back with a screw driver, but no batteries!? REALLY???? He has to take the batteries out of the lock from the door across the hall. (Seriously I can't make this stuff up. UGH!) He puts in the borrowed batteries and still nothing. Now he says he has to get the maintenance man. I ask how long this will take and he says only 15-20 minutes. I know this is a lie because the Outer Siberia to South Pole trek will take him half that time and he won't have even contacted the maintenance man by then. He radios the front desk and opens up a different room on the floor for us to sit in so we don't have to camp out in the hall any longer. (This is confirmation to me that his 15- 20 minute reply is a bold-faced lie.) 20 minutes go by and I hear nothing from the front desk or the security guy as to the progress. I call down to the front desk. She tells me that they are still trying to get the maintenance man. So much for that 15-20 minute estimate. HA! I complain to her that they have now inconvenienced me for an additional hour when they had 8 hours during the day while I was gone in which they were supposed to have taken care of this problem! She says sorry, but they are working on it, She finally says they have gotten a hold of the maintenance man and he will be there in 15-20 minutes. I ask her to call me as soon as he arrives. She says she understands and assures me she will let me know as soon as he walks in. I don't actually trust anything the hotel staff tells me at this point so I jam open the door to the room to see into the hallway so I will know when the maintenance man is going to work on the room as he will have to pass this room on his way to the Outer Siberia. Eventually the security guy and the maintenance man pass by the open door. I sit and wait to see if I get a call from the front desk. Of course not. I go to watch and see if the maintenance man can actually get into the room. Of course not. He says he has to go and reprogram something and he'll be back. So another trek from Outer Siberia to the South Pole and more waiting for me. I call down and ask the front desk attendant what happened to that call she promised me. Of course, her excuse is that she was checking someone in when he walked in. I query why she couldn't have called after she finished the check in. Of course, no good answer and no apology. She says that the maintenance man is working on it right now and he'll be back up. I tell her that we need to change rooms once he opens that room. She says yes. I ask her to send up a luggage cart. She sends the security man with. The maintenance man finally makes his way back to Outer Siberia from the South Pole and eventually shorts out the lock and gets it to open. We have to jam the door open so we don't have fight the broken lock again. However, the idiots here didn't bother to bring me keys for the new room....aaaaaarrrrrrrggggghhhhh. I tell the security man to bring me keys to the new room. Now I have to leave both rooms open with my stuff available to everyone because I can't close the door to the old room because the lock doesn't work at all and if I close the room I have to wait for this 3-ring circus over again and I won't be able to unlock the new room door because I have no keys. Eventually the security man makes it back to Outer Siberia from the South Pole...and I can finally finish moving all my stuff from one room to another. After all this is said and done, I have been out in the hall or inconvenienced for an additional 2 hours to get me into my room after they had 8 hours during the day while I was gone to take care of this!!!! And still after all this not one offer of any sort or gratuity or compensation for the horrible situation and inconvenience. In addition, I queried the maintenance man if he was the one that fixes the internet issues. He is, jI complained about what had happened the two nights we were already here and he said all he knows is that it was working when he left. And then he quipped that if someone in the hotel is streaming a lot of movies or gaming that that it automatically locks out other users for internet access...and he says this like it should be acceptable. I complain that for a hotel and one of this size in particular that this is ridiculous and shouldn't they have a better plan. He rudely quips, it's free. REALLY??? Then I ask why the ice machine and the vending on this floor don't work and he matter of factly says because they intentionally took them out of service, When I indicate that it's VERY inconvenient to have to go to another floor for ice since the hallway to Outer Siberia is half a mile long, he says, "There should be a sign telling you that you need to go to another floor." As if that answers my complaint about the inconvenience. Again, useless and rude.
We travel 2 - 3 times a month across the US for these tennis tournaments and this is the worst stay of any hotel we have been at aside from the red roof inn that had hair on the wall of the shower in the first room, and then someone's pants left on the back of the bathroom door, the smell of cat urine and the broken toilet in the second room. But at the very least in that situation, the staff actively tried within minutes to rectify the situation and also gave us a free night's stay to make up for the inconvenience.
IF YOU STAY HERE, you have been forewarned and you have nobody to blame but yourself.
DO NOT STAY!!!
Rachael Fon 25/05/2017 15:24We found multiple bugs in our room within the first 5 minutes of checking in. It was a lengthy and difficult process to finally switch rooms.
The hot water ran out and we all had to take cold showers.
The breakfast is terrible, there's no cream cheese for the bagels, no milk for the cereal, ran out of eggs, but they refused to replace anything, and the breakfast staff is so rude! We got kicked out for not wearing shoes because they act like they're a restaurant, but the only thing to eat is stale pastries!
We loved it.
mer1264on 23/05/2017 23:00We got a great hotwire deal months in advance of our stay. We were coming in for MSU graduation. We were able to check in about an hour early. No one was in line with us. The room was really nice. This hotel is huge. From the parking area to the room it seemed like a really big walk. That was ok with us though because we love getting the steps in. The bed was super comfortable. That is a big one with me. I really like a comfortable bed. The only issue we had was the iron didn't work. We were taking it down to the front desk, had to get those steps in, and an employee saw us walking with it. He asked us what was wrong and we told him. He took the iron and told us he would bring another one up. He did that promptly and we were very grateful since we were in a hurry to go. The breakfast buffet was adequate although confusing as to where you sit etc... I will stay here again for sure.
Awesome Stay
Lovinlife1963on 21/05/2017 19:45I stayed at Causeway Bay this past weekend. Ignoring all the previous reviews I decided to stay here.
Staff and management was amazing.
Valencia Club had nightly food and drink specials. Had a great Cod dinner for less than 10 dollars.
Breakfast was good. Nice friendly service.
Rooms were very clean and comfortable.
There is a quiet courtyard to go out and have a cigarette or just a stroll. Lilac trees in bloom so it smelled amazing. A waterfall near the koi fish pond made it tranquil and relaxing. Very peaceful.
I am a city person just getting away but I felt like I was on vacation somewhere.
Pool I didnt use but it looked clean inviting and appealing.
