Visits to the hotel by my wife and I have been pleasant and enjoyable because of some excellent staff with helpful attention and well priced meals quickly served
The luncheon steak and the Wed night schnitzel are some of the best quality and value in the Newcastle CBD
Congrats to management
Keep it up

A college student doss house

If you are under 25, go there with the partner you desire for the night, drink yourself silly in the pub and then book a room for $129 to bonk but students get 20% off. We booked there because it is close to the court. But the room was awful. Go up narrow steep stairs - no elevator. 14 up then 5 down. Bathroom - chipped sink, shower door would not close but fractured, dirty, door frames painted over tiles, grubby. You are warned that the shower is hot with steam if the steam sets off the smoke alarm - you pay the fire dept call out charge. Towels plus 2 small bars of soap - no shampoo, nothing but if you are there to bonk so what. No hangars, no iron, no ironing board, sheets threadbare, blanket - one only - thin. No spare pillows. Found a smelly sock beside the bed. Management refused to clean the room after one night. Recommend - if over 25, stay elsewhere. No fly screens etc etc etc.

Worst customer service i have experienced. A group of about twenty (20) attended for a birthday dinner. There was only our table and another 2-4 people in the whole area and after our experience I know why.
I walked to the main bar and stood for a least one minute whist the bar tender had his head stuck in his phone, sitting down at the end of the bar. He had know idea I was there.

My brother goes to the small bar to order his meal and said "What sort of fish is it?" The female serving with her plate of half eaten chips next to the cash register said in a blank look "I don't know" and shruggged her shoulders.

My meal was nice so no complaints with it. Some decided they wanted coffee with our birthday cake. The time was 8.35pm (Thur night), I noticed the bar to order was in darkness. i politely said to the female cleaning the only other table used "Excuse me, do you have coffee?". She looked towards the bar with lights out and said "yeh but lights off its closed". I asked her what time they close and she proceded to tell me no real time but sometimes 8.30pm.
I made a point of saying "well its only 8.35 and you could of enquired with our table first before turning out lights". Her reply "Well, no one ever has coffee". I said "no one has coffee but you have a coffee machine". Again a shrug of the shoulders and she walked away.
Then we asked for our cake. A tall male from the kitchen walked out and dumped our box on table and said "Theres your cake, theres plates, knife" and dumped the gas lighter on table and walked away.
I don't know what customers they are wanting to attract or what business they are running but they need to take a long look at themselves. I suggest sticking to bar snacks as anything else is beyond them.

Decent for the price

This place is one of the cheapest around so you can't expect too much. Staff are friendly but hardly around. Room was clean though small, shared toilets and showers but a sink and mini fridge in the room. If you're in the area to do something else, and not spend time in your hotel room, this is the perfect budget option. Check out by leaving your key in the room - this is one thing we weren't told and couldn't find out how to do.

Great playground for kids

Fantastic indoor playground for the children. Went their for lunch. Loved the range of items on the menu, especially the Japanese menu eg tempura and also liked the coffee! Nice outdoor place to eat and cook your steak. Free parking at the back.
