What People are saying

This is not a Four star hotel!

Alex Fon 29/06/2016 17:51

This is our third stay at this location, and it is going just down the drain! We found it dirty, out dated furniture, breakfast in the "restaurant" was questionable. When we told friends and family and we were staying there, they told that is was the wrong choice. Well, next time we will choose a different location.

I spend 10 nights in this hotel and it is very good value for money. The staf is very helpfull and they speek English, the breakfast is not for a 4star hotel but is more than decent. There are some restorants in town but the good ones are limited. Ask for a room with view on the port you can only enjoy it.

3 Stars at Best

If you want hotel accommodation in Candás then you are limited for choice. The Marsol hotel occupies prime position overlooking the harbour with some excellent local seafood restaurants on their doorstep. Unfortunately, the hotel is looking tired with a refresh seemingly long overdue.

Our room, overlooking the harbour, was large but less than clean when we arrived, with the corpses of squashed bugs littered across the walls, dust and hair on the laminated wood floor and years of accumulated mould between the bathroom tiles. This pretty much remained the case during our 7 night stay. Loose or broken fittings could be found throughout the room and bathroom. Our beds were uncomfortable and if you require a double bed make sure to request at the time of booking as we were told by reception that they were limited to just 1 per floor! Alternatively you will get two singles pushed together which seems to be quite the norm nowadays in many Spanish hotels.

The room facilities include flat screen TV, a safe, mini fridge (only stocked with water and a bottle opener), air conditioning and a hairdryer. Unfortunately, the small bathroom lacked any natural or artificial ventilation.

Hotel parking spaces are very limited and not available for vehicles over 1.75m tall, but there is free parking in the harbour car park nearby.

Staff are very friendly and helpful but they are limited with what they have to work with.

We never ate in the hotel so cannot comment on the food but judging by some previous comments on TA, this was probably not a bad decision.

The Marsol may have been a 4 star when it first opened its doors in the 70's but it is 3 stars at best by today's standards.

An enjoyable stay by the sea

Margaret Hon 04/10/2013 17:35

We stayed here for 3 nights when on a tour to Santiago de Compostela. It is a pleasant place in a small town by the fishing harbour. The rooms were comfortable and spacious with a good bathroom and everything worked! We had breakfast and dinner and were pleased with the meals. There was no choice at dinner, but wine was included. There is only one lift but it worked efficiently and did not cause any problem. Candas is within easy reach of Oviedo, Gijon, and the Picos de Europa Natural Park, so a convenient place to stay and we enjoyed it.
