What People are saying

Pleasant but Outdated

Caronrickon 04/10/2017 14:46

Spent several nights here while in town on business. The location is not too bad for access, and having lived there in the past it was pretty easy to avoid the worst of the traffic. Close to most major restaurants and easy access to the highway or downtown. Desk and housekeeping personnel were all friendly and courteous. The room itself was not bad, but showed so much of its age. They have tried to keep things modern with nice touches like heated ceramic floor in the bathroom area, but the carpeting, popcorn walls and ceiling, and choice of colours and artwork give a less-than-modern impression. My room specifically felt though the AC was not capable of cooling, and just barely maintained an almost comfortable temperature. The pool was a nice enough area, with an attached exterior sitting area. Hot tub was under renovation and thus out of service, and the resulting early morning work right outside my window was a daily reminder of the work occurring.
Overall I felt that this hotel was over priced, but the market dictates whet it can bear for pricing. I have spent less for much more modern (and larger) rooms in many other locations. For comparable price, I would stay elsewhere.

Nice hotel, needs refresh

Bitten_8on 09/08/2017 03:31

Stayed here for a couple of nights. The staff is pleasant and helpful. There is a nice pool, hot tub and sauna with rooms giving onto the pool deck, with a lifeguard on site which is great. The rooms are comfortable but everywhere (ie, hallways and grand hall staircase) the carpets are dated and due for a refresh. The stippled walls are reminiscent of an older style as well. The A/C in the room was extremely loud but worked well. I loved that they provided makeup toiletries for women such as makeup remover.

No real big complaints for our 1 night stay

Carolyn Aon 27/06/2017 18:55

The room was clean. Love the fridge, microwave and coffee maker in the room. Would have been nice to have a small freezer too to keep our ice packs frozen. I also loved the heated floors in the washroom. The check in was quick as was the check out. The price was more than we would have liked to pay but all other hotels were booked at that time. They have a restaurant at the hotel but we never used it. It would have been nice to have breakfast included at the price we paid (even a small breakfast like cereal, toast, muffins, bananas). They keep the strollers where you could put your bags on to roll to your room far away from the front door closer to the elevators around the corner (not very convenient). No real complaints, service was good, room was clean, it would have been better with breakfast included. Bed and pillow not to my liking but everybody has different preferences. The pool area looked nice and tropical but we didn't have a chance to use it. No problems with the free internet and free parking.

Needs some TLC

Rooms are overly dated. Beds are uncomfortable. Bathrooms are gross. I go to Chicoutimi twice a month for work and for sure will never go back. The lazy-boy in the room is disgusting. I would not recommend to anyone I know. So many better hotels around.

My visit at Sagueneene

Sixty2010on 04/11/2016 21:27

We visited Saguenay in early August 2016. A nice place to visit but you could struggle a bit with the language if you have no French skills. We selected this hotel because it appeared to be an upscale hotel to stay with the pool and dining etc. We stayed three nights. We ate breakfast once at the on site restaurant but was disappointed. When we booked it stated breakfast was an option for a price but the menu was different than the mainstream menu. There was only a couple options available for our package and they were not great. After the first breakfast I asked for a refund for the future days as we decided to go somewhere else for breakfast. That was Cora's and only average for the big money but the last night of our stay was unsettling because some rude patrons of the hotel decided to sit outside below our open door and carry on into the middle of the night. When I approached the front desk in the morning as I was headed out for a 12 hour drive I asked them if they patrol the lots or do security walk arounds at all. There response was no and that I should have called them. Perhaps I should have but figured the hotel should be checking on this stuff and I didn't want to get involved in an altercation because some night staff tells the violators that the guy in room so & so complained about you. Anyway the guy in the morning on the desk gave me a contact number to call about my concern. I spoke to the contact and they understood and were sorry to hear there was an issue. The typical scripted response. They were going to send me a voucher for a free night on another visit there or one of their other hotels. I have waited until now but got nothing. I do not recommend this hotel as although the rooms are not too bad, even if they are in need of an update, but it is priced for elegance. My advice is to look around but it is a nice vacation place and you should book early for prime times of the year.
