I booked this hotel solely based on reviews on this site and felt very mislead when I arrived. So, here is my take on the pros & cons.
Pros:
1. Great location in the old historic district
2. Nice hotel staff
Cons:
1. Room was not ready on time - had to wait 45 minutes to one hour
2. Feels like a hostel, not hotel (which could be a pro if you like hostels)
3. We booked and paid for two double beds. We got one full bed and one cot in the corner of the room
4. Lots of bugs, mosquitos, and geckos in the room
5. Hotel room door lock - wow. I wish I took a picture to show you. Basically, there is no security and very easy for anyone to break into the room. The lock is not an effective hotel door locking mechanism
6. Safe in the room did not work
7. Bathroom floor behind the sink was literally rotting away
8. Bathroom had a window to the dining area - you could literally see the fan outside and people could hear everything you were doing. #awkward
9. Walls are paper thin - if you get a loud neighbor, then good luck

Nice hotel, with a charming colonial style, right in the center of Cartagena. Staff was super kind, and always ready to help. Breakfast is quite simple, and there are few tables, so you may need to share with other guests. Rooms are nice, not always perfectly clean. Reasonable price for the most expensive town in Colombia

I have nothing but great things to say about this hotel! The location is wonderful and the staff is more than accommodating. The hotel is very secure, the breakfast is great, and the common space is very nice (although not air conditioned.) The rooms are of course air conditioned, and our room had a balcony view which was great. I would definitely stay at Centro Hotel again in the future.

The hotel is in an old building in Cartegena in the old city very near to the cathedral. There are obviously problems with the roof, as there were damp patches in at least 3 rooms. My first room had large damp patches on the ceiling and smelt of damp, it was rather like a cell as there were no windows, we had 2 rooms, both were the same. The following day we were able to move to rooms on the street side. The breakfast which is included is basic. Javier was helpful he changed our rooms and arranged transport for us. The location is good. Rooms had air conditioning .

The hotel had friendly & helpful staff. The location was perfect.
The room was average. The bed was comfortable but the bathroom was a slight let down. Clean, but the water didn't drain properly in the shower and it wasn't the strongest stream of water.
There was also no windows in my room.
Air-conditioning worked well.
This hotel is good for someone who's just after somewhere to sleep at night & not too worried about extra ammenities. It get's the job done.
