Cerro Mar Colina

ElsaCorkon 21/08/2017 17:21

Cerro Mar comprises of 4 different blocks - Cerro Mar Gardens, Cerro Mar Atlantico, Cerro Mar Colina and Apartmentos Cerro Mar. The main reception, spa and indoor pool are located at Gardens but guests in any block can move freely between all complexes. We stayed in Colina and everything was spotless. We had two bed apartment which had 2 bathrooms, a huge balcony & sitting/dining room. The kitchen was extremely well equipped with a fridge/freezer, kettle, coffee pot, microwave, dishwasher and even a tea towel was provided. Towels changed every day and sheets twice a week. There was free air conditioning and a safety deposit box (additional charge). The only downside was the wifi which we purchased from reception but we requested and received a refund within 24 hours because it was dreadful. The complex is at the top of a hill with beautiful views. Only downside is that there are about 100 steps down to the square of the old town. But you will come home with well toned thighs and bums!! Plenty of great restaurants in the old town. Beautiful beach and a lively atmosphere at night time

Great hotel!

Nice views from the balcony (seaview), spacious rooms. Very clean and friendly staff. Mainbuilding, facilities are closeby. Together with the Atlantico buildings they have 5 swimming pools.
Only 100 steps away from the mainsquare of albufeira.

Nice and clean apartments

The apartment was nice and clean. Everything we needed was there. We had a nice stay. Only the staff of the hotel is a bit unfriendly. The beds were a little uncomfortable as well . The mattress was very hard. When we complained about it, they put a soft blanket under the sheet.
That helped a lot.

Good Apartments

As a family of six, we stayed in a two bedroom apartment which was excellent. The apartments were a generous size and well equipped. One bedroom had two single beds while the other had a double bed and ensuite bathroom. Decent kitchen with all that you need...fridge, oven, toaster and most importantly a corkscrew! The boys were fine on the pull out beds in the lounge. Bedrooms and lounge were fully air conditioned. Our huge balcony gave a great seaview. The only negative for the apartment was the beds were incredibly hard...we woke with back ache every morning. The apartments are in a separate block across the road from the hotel with its own gardens, two pools and a pool bar. Whilst there was some sunbed reserving, it wasn't extensive and we always managed to get beds when we wanted.
The hotel and apartments are at the top of a hill so you have a walk down approx 100 steps to get to the old town square where the bars and restaurants are...which means you have to walk up 100 or so steps to get back. Not really a place for high heels!
There are plenty of reasonable restaurants but we were a bit disappointed with Portuguese cuisine which mainly consisted of grilled fish and meat. Our better meals were Italian, Indian and Mexican which was not really what we wanted on a holiday to Portugal.
In summary, good apartments and grounds, close to lots of restaurants but a bit of a hike to get back. On the whole, a good holiday.

Fantastic Holiday

We're a family of 4 with 2 kids aged 13 and 11. We stayed in the Cerro Mar Gardens block and were not disappointed. We did take our own blow up bed with us for one of the kids as I had read on this site that the sofa bed wasn't great and that is true, although our 11 year old slept well on it every night.

We arrived around noon, check-in was smooth and our apartment was ready. I had emailed 2 weeks in advance and requested an upper floor apartment and that is what we got. It had fantastic kitchen facilities and we couldn't have asked for more. The whole apartment was kept clean with clean towels provided everyday.

We unpacked and went down to the pool and were able to get 2 loungers. It was the usual scenario with towels reserving loungers in the morning but it wasn't too bad and we found plenty available at 8:30 after our breakfast. The pool was a good size and the kids totally enjoyed it and were allowed inflatables. The pool never felt overcrowded and we loved spending time there and it was clean with the surrounding area also being well maintained.

We were half board, although did eat down town on some occasions, and found the food okay. We thought the food was edible and you wouldn't go hungry but there could be more selection for kids especially in the dessert area, there wasn't even ice-cream, but overall, it was okay, but would recommend maybe going bed & breakfast or self-catering.

Overall, we totally enjoyed our stay here and would come here again and highly recommend anyone stay here, you won't regret it.
