Stay at your very own castle
MDiamanton 06/10/2016 01:39In the middle of the Loire Valley is this castle turned hotel. It's on a golf course and has a 5 star restaurant. Mornings one enjoys a great breakfast and afternoons are at the pool. The rooms are large and the Wi-Fi works.
What a lovely place to stay
Jane_John_Bon 19/09/2016 23:47Stayed here for a golf break. On arrival very pleasantly suprised with the room we were allocated after reading some of the reviews. Lovely spacious room, well equipped bathroom, large comfortable bed. Tea and coffee available in the room. Yes, decor tired and could do with a new carpet but everything very clean. Food and service excellent. Evening meal was expensive, but very good food in a lovely setting. Food in the club house good as well.
Golf course not in good condition, suffered from very dry weather plus the tees are being dug up by wild boar so not the best of courses that we have played.
The building is suffering from lack of investment, and will need a significant amount of money spending on it to get it up to standard. However, the staff work hard to overcome these shortcomings and we felt very well looked after the whole weekend.
Beautiful Chateau - Rooms dated!
Patricia Son 08/08/2016 12:23We stayed for 3 nights in August. We arrived at 10.30pm and were greeted by very friendly and professional staff. Shown to our 'Superior' room which was very dated, not what you would expect for the price we paid or how the rooms were described and professionally photographed!! We were given the option of another two rooms to choose from. These were a little better. In all honesty the bedrooms and ESPECIALLY the bathrooms are in desperate need of a complete refurbishment to bring them up to a reasonable standard. Peeling paint/wallpaper, badly chipped bath enamel, ill fitting carpets and dated fixtures/bedding are not acceptable for a 4 star hotel. The Club Room upstairs also needs refurbishing, it was very shabby upstairs. I can only describe the rooms as tired, they do not seem to have been touched since the '80's!! Such a shame the bedrooms/bathrooms let this magnificent chateau down.... If updated we would definitely return and recommend to others, so please, refurb these rooms!! The rest of the chateau is beautiful though with outstanding views. The staff were lovely and the food was excellent.
Our anniversary treat.
ApplebyJosephson 06/01/2016 17:14Came here with my wife to mark our first wedding anniversary. Managed to book a January deal amounting to 179€ with deluxe room and dinner and breakfast thrown in too. Had to pay for drinks on top.
Anyway, moving on with the review. This castle is just truly magnificent. I loved the feeling of sleeping in something that had so much history.
The long driveway sandwiched in between the lovely looking golf course seriously needs some tender loving care however. There are pot holes the size of craters that have been found on the moon. Would be ideal if paint was put on the speed bumps too.
Big bonus here was the fact that furry friends are welcome too for an additional fee of 15€
We arrived to a warm reception once we had banged our way through the reception door (Needs some attention).
We were accompanied to our room by the receptionist to be told we'd be the only guest on the premises tonight which was quite a nice feeling. Our deluxe room was situated in one of the turrets of the castle and was lovely and roomy.
Evening meal was great quality and my veggie wife was well looked after with variations made on the menu for her. Good considering we had our own chef for the night.
We were asked if we'd like breakfast served in our room for no further charge and we're glad that we did. Great choice of stuff and wow, what a lot!!
Forgot to mention that we had a nice stroll on the golf course with the dog (on lead) which was good to get a bit of exercise.
Bed was extremely comfortable with nice pillows. I slept like a bug on a rug!
Will we be back? Good question! Would like to think so but in the summer when we could profit from the pool and maybe nicer weather but I bet the prices rocket!! Who knows......
Beautiful chateau poorly maintained
Stanleyalbon 09/09/2015 13:15We visited this chateau in August for one night. Our room was fine - a bit tired. Dinner was okay. We were served by two different staff - one whom we found rather patronising in telling us about the wine, the grape, the taste, etc. Perhaps because we are English she assumed we know nothing about wine. Breakfast was poor and served in a room that definitely needs some attention. Properties of this type must be hugely expensive to maintain, but crumbling woodwork, peeling paint, etc. are really not acceptable in a 4 star hotel. We were disappointed and would not visit again.
