What People are saying

Very nice hotel, but the hotel restaurant needs to improve its service

Tore Lon 22/07/2017 19:44

I stayed at Chaika Hotel from July 16 until 21. The location is very nice in a silent neighborhood, with a lot of apartment blocks and villas from the German time (called "Amelienau neighborhood" in German times), a very charming area. The hotel building is from 1909, and nicely renovated. I stayed at room 308, which was spacious with two windows. Clean and very fine. It takes you about 30-40 minutes to walk down to the city centre (Victory Square), but it is a nice route. One minus was the service at the hotel restaurant. Nobody of the staff in the restaurant could speak a world English or German, only Russian. The offerings at the restaurant were so and so. Some days they had orange juice, other days not. You had to ask for a cup of coffee, could not serve yourself, like you could with tea water. The staff in the restaurant rarely smiled at you, probably because the young women working there were quite shy, and may be felt uncertain towards foreigners since they could not speak English. The dinners were good, but I tested only one course (kind of meat balls). It was a sloppy attitude towards keeping the stock of food and drinks offered in the menu. When they had run out of light beer, they did nothing to provide it, neither the same day they said they had no more of it, nor the day after. At last I found an excellent - kind of Italian - restaurant nearby the church that now is a muppet theater, five minutes walk from the hotel. The only English-speaking persons in the hotel during my stay were the receptionists, who were very service-minded - and smiling.

A haven...

Set on a side street in leady suburbs west of the city, Chaika Hotel was a bit of a haven from the noise, traffic and decay of Kaliningrad. We had a lovely room high up in the hotel which was both stylish and very comfortable. Breakfast was reasonably varied and tasty, while the staff coped with our zero knowledge of Russian admirably. There was always someone there with good English.

Elegant and peaceful hotel

Hotel Chaika in Kaliningrad is small and elegant hotel in quiet surround about half an hour (by foot) from square Victory, 45 minute from cathedral and more than one hour from main railway station.
The hotel is clean and safety - video controlling and outside door is closed in night time. There is doorbell if you are coming late.
In the hotel is small fitness room (free use) - equipment are quite new. There is very small SPA but it I didn’t use - quite expensive. But the best was restaurant I’ll recommend it. And the breakfast will be serving in the table, you have 10 alternatives where to choose and coffee is always fresh.
The hotel has small parking place in back yard - video controlling. There is close some shops if you are need snacks or drinks. In the hotel room you have empty refrigerator.
If you appreciate more night life then I recommend some other hotel which is location closer in city center.

Super hotel

I have stayed in this hotel 12 times during the last year. Service and rooms are very good. Everything is very european. There is no russian-style service nor unaccuracy.
Highly recommended hotel. I will definitely stay again.

In general Russian conditions-perfect
