Stayed here in May 2015. The rates:
- single room 30
- double room 45
- triple room 75
- quad room 80

I stayed at room 103. I was a bit late when reaching, and the staff waited for me at the end of the rail track, which was something good (it was already dark). Checkout time is 0900. Very good shower, location is perfect (near to the bus station), owner speaks English, towel and soap are provided, not too much expensive than a dorm listed in hostelworld.

things to be improved - there is no mirror in the room, Internet access is weak from the room (OK to use it in the lobby), drinking water is not provided. Cleaning can be done better. When I was satisfied with most of the thing, I wanted to use the toilet and realized the toilet bowl was not clean :(

Superior Staff! -- Not a luxury hotel, but the best hotel staff around!

The room was fine -- small, but clean. On the downside the bed was hard, and there was a fair amount of noise. But on the much bigger plus side, is that on both days my Expedia booked tour companies let me down, but the staff at Chankana Hotel (Hostel) went above and beyond to help salvage my entire trip!

The second day of my trip the Chankana staff earned my MVHS (Most Valuable Hotel Staff Award)! I had previously booked and confirmed an all-inclusive trip through Expedia to Machu Picchu (the purpose of my trip), but the tour company that was supposed to pick me up at 5:30 A.M.-- but "No-showed."

The staff spent tremendous time trying to reach the flakey tour company, but my time was running out. Finally the owner got on the phone and started calling around to other tour operators to see if I could still make it to Machu Picchu. A tour operator the owner knew personally came to the hotel and helped me (do the almost impossible at that point) -- piece together a trip.

I left Cusco at noon, but I had a glorious quick trip to one of the seven new wonders of the world! -- the Chakana saved me! Most often people in their position will act sad and say, "I'm sorry, but it was not our responsibility," or maybe they will make a quick call for you. The staff at Chankana were as committed to me getting there as I was -- though they had nothing to do with creating the problem -- they solved it!

So noisy all night

I hadn't planned to stay here, but a late bus meant I had to find somewhere for the night. The first night I slept well until 6am when the hotel woke up. The second night, people were shouting right outside my door at 1:30am, people were talking really loudly and having breakfast? at 3am, and at 5am when I got up people were still being loud. During the evening you can hear the doorbell constantly as people come in and out.

The bed was really comfortable, and the room was okay, although overpriced. I missed breakfast both days - the first because I arrived so late I didn't wake up, and the second because I left at 5am.

I can't recommend this place enough

All the staff were nice, friendly and helpful despite the language barrier. We rented a heater for our room for an extra 10 soles per night. The shower was hot and with good pressure and wifi was consistent. Breakfast was also awesome.
We did 2 loads of laundry with them and left luggage while we went for our 5 day Salkantay trek. We came back and stayed another night to recuperate afterwards. When we left for our trek at 5am, the night guy got us some bread, cheese and ham and made us coffees before we left.
The only negative was the local security guard would whistle down the street when he did his rounds but otherwise It was perfect. Oh and how could I forget... They actually folded the towels in kissing swans! Worth the extra 5 minute walk from the centre.
