Fantastic weekend escape
Michael Mon 31/07/2017 10:09Chateaux Bagnols is a fantastic old chateaux, beautifully and sympathetically restored. It offers a great ambiance combined with attentive and professional service.
The suites are unique and very comfortable. Great new addition is the beautiful spa offering a great choice of treatments.
The restaurant is expensive but very welcoming. Try the souffle - the best in the world. Avoid the fish dishes - rubbery and without taste. Steamed vegetables soaked in cream and overcooked. Otherwise innovative and interesting. Great wine choice with fantastic somellier at hand.
Revisiting
Olivia Gon 28/07/2017 09:52We came here to this beautiful Chateau Hotel in the days of The Hambro family's ownership on an anniversary celebration. On our return road trip from the South it was fitting to revisit. It is still a gorgeous hotel and position and a new glass roof over the inner courtyard is a perfect edition
We were expecting to find a new lighter bistro restaurant alongside the main restaurant but arrived to find this had a short life and has closed ... You can still choose a lighter menu though in the one dining area. ...
The pool is still in a very pretty cherry orchard but for a 5 star hotel there is no one to take the rain covers off the bug infested loungers or no means to call for any pool service... You are a fair way from your room so go prepared.
A very nice Spa and we had good massages ,if you like a special time you need to book ahead. An indoor pool in the Spa but children are allowed in this so again factor this in if you like a more peaceful Spa
Parking is very tight and more space is required as at the moment double parking is an issue ...
Our main problem throughout our two night stay was that for a hotel of this category the WiFi was bad
Le bienvenue etait super
870nielsdon 27/07/2017 07:26The bellboy did a great job! The room
Was medieval and special! The spa
Was great and well furnished. The restaurant was because of an event busy we noticed but the sommelier or maitre was really not kind. And laughed at us with his wine.. we had to ask
After two courses what kind of wine we had and he laughed because we had to guess ?! The dessert was really a mess because of the heat (?!) in the kitchen, that is a shame.
Totally relaxing
sharonbabyon 24/07/2017 03:09We decided to stay here not as a base for sightseeing but as a base to totally relax, as we had been sightseeing over the last 5 weeks and thought a break would be nice. We were not disappointed, especially when the weather was so kind to us during our 2 night stay here.
This property is situated in a very quiet village overlooking the most magnificent views of vineyards and small buildings.
Upon arrival we were able to get through the entrance gates via a press button/camera and parked the car easily. We walked to reception without luggage and was checked in by a warm friendly staff member. We were offered a cool drink plus something to eat (yummy cake), which was on display near the reception desk. ( Nice touch). After doing some paper work, we were shown to our room, we had booked one of the Chai Suites and was not disappointed.
The room was spacious, modern and had every amenity that we could have wished for. Unfortunately I opened up the window and immediately the flies came into the room, therefore window was closed quickly. Upon turn-down, it appeared that housekeeping had gotten rid of most of the flies that I had let in.
Dinner on the first night was at their restaurant taken on the terrace, as it was a pleasant night. One draw back, a cat was going from table to table in the hope of some food. (Note - I am not a cat lover at all)
Service was excellent, good advice given for the wine and the food was enjoyable, especially the rum souffle - extremely delicious.
The outdoor pool is hidden in a secluded part of the garden - very peaceful, even when some children were down here. Towels were provided close by. Perhaps a suggestion - when the weather is good (like we had), a staff member or service (like a phone) for a drink &/or snack would be nice instead of having to wander up to obtain this. Good sun-loungers with covers on & cushions provided. Plenty of shade thanks to the trees.
The car park does fill up quickly - the second night of our stay we had to park across the road - guessing the car park was full of restaurant guests as the next day the property was quiet.
Breakfast one morning was very busy and the food was not re-stocked, which was disappointing. Had to ask for bowls, milk - no yoghurt, fruit had run out etc.
Following morning the complete opposite - well stocked - nice and warm eggs etc.
The spa area was lovely - great gym (although only small) plus a small indoor heated pool, which we used. Unfortunately we did not experience a spa treatment, although it did appear popular.
The staff here worked hard and were always friendly.
Definitely would recommend staying here.
Need of some upgrade and attention to detail

We returned here for 3 nights recently after falling in love with this fabulous place some three years ago to be slightly disappointed to see service standards and lack of basics such as adequate wifi (very poor absolutely everywhere). The standard of staff and their attention to detail varied significantly - some really were great but a number seemed extremely casual and seemed to forget that we were there (or not notice we didn't have cutlery, water, bread etc). The hotel was also in need of some capital spending . The spa addition since our last trip however was first class and highly recommended.
