Fabulous lunch, impeccable service
Sarah Son 16/08/2017 17:01Slightly gloomy start to the day so we thought lunch and a walk in Montreuil-sur-Mer would be good. It's an interesting town with lots of history going back to the 10th century, with a citadel, ramparts and cobbled streets. It's also the setting for part of the Les Miserables story, Jean Valjean was the Mayor at one point.
Anyway decided to spoil ourselves with lunch at this lovely hotel. We sat on the terrace - the garden at the back of the hotel, which has big umbrellas to shade from the sun. Went for the two course lunch at 28€ per person; however with aperitifs, glass of wine each, added cheese course and coffee it came to quite a bit more, but wow was it worth it!! Having served us a Kir Royale the waiter brought some dainty hors d'oeuvres followed by a melon soup (an amuse bouche?) before our main course arrived. I had the risotto which was delicious. Dessert was also amazing. With coffee they brought little choux buns and a choice of tiny chocolates (the town has an incredible chocolate shop!).
Service was friendly and efficient; we were allowed to take our time and they were very tolerant of my terrible French!
We may not be back this holiday but we will definitely return! Can't recommend it highly enough. Having a snooze now!
Comfort and gastronomic delight
14dogtravelleron 09/08/2017 11:38We returned here to stay for three nights although not in our favourite room which has a balcony and proper bath in the bathroom. This room, although very comfortable and spacious, was on the top floor and had one of those huge showers which do not tick the boxes for hair washing! However, our stay was made very pleasant indeed by the attentive and charming service as well as the superb cuisine. I can recommend the sole fillets in herbs and ginger broth, the fantastic foamy fennel crab starter and the succulent pigeon. Our wine choices of Pouilly Fuisse and Ste Estephe complemented this feast perfectly. This is a lovely hotel where you feel that the staff really care that guests are happy and comfortable. Thoroughly recommended.

Dear Lindsay,
We have just returned from an excellent break at your Chateau. Although the weather was mixed we managed to avoid the rain and all thoroughly enjoyed our short break.
The show was what it is called…spectacular. We were so lucky to have a dry and very warm night for it. Thank you so much for getting the tickets.
My wife really appreciated the vegetarian dinners your husband produced, she rarely gets anything remotely exciting in France !
We all really enjoyed the Hotel, some hadn’t been before, and we hope to come again before too long.
Regards Joyce and Tony=
Wonderful hotel!
BruceBrunningon 20/07/2017 21:55We have stayed here before and returned this week en-route to SW France.
This is a truly lovel hotel in a quiet and interesting corner of Montreuil sur Mer. The staff are all very friendly but equally efficient, our room was excellent and the dinner was first class. We had our dog with us and it was no problem at all.
Staying here is now an important part of our holidays ane we make sure our schedules can include it. We will certainly return.
