Stayed in Alto do Mohino for one week in August. The apartment I was in was modern, clean and although the air condition didn't work everything else was very good.
The pool area is nice , the bar does good food and even has a small little shop for all the basics you might be stuck for.
A taxi from here to the new town is about €7 and the old town is about a 15 min walk downhill.
All the staff were very helpful and friendly, Antonio was one of them and was extremely friendly and helpful with information.
Visitor to this place the weekend just gone for a short trip away. It is safe to say I will not be attending again. This is mainly down to the fact that as a group of decent lads they took 100 euros EACH as a deposit equating to 1400 euro deposit unknown and got told upon arrival either pay up or go elsewhere.... Now with such a heafty deposit we were under the impression the room would be in immaculate condition. Room A003 looked like it had been hit by the plague and not been cleaned for a good 5 years. The bathtub had mould in it and some sort of green fungi in the plug hole. The ceiling was mouldy. There was a plastic sticker on the window as a blind. Talk about cutting costs this place too the biscuit. The toilet seat was too small for The basin and had cracks all over it. The kitchen area was like something from the 1930s with doors missing, ovens not working and a fridge freezer that had the aroma of rotten food. There were no spare pillows for the spare bed and also no aircon. Yes no aircon in a country where it was hitting 37 degrees on a regular basis. The pool area was tidy and the staff were polite. The beers were cold but at 3 euros for a small outside cup not necessarily cheap. Food was average and the amount of sunbeds were non existent. We spent our 3 days laying on the grass... the best thing about this trip was everything other than the hotel room. Avoid this apartment at all costs as there are miles better ones for a lot cheaper...
Stayed at these apartments from the 25/7/17-01/08/17
Had a lovely stay here apartment was nice and spacious. Nice sized pool for floating around on hot sunny days.
Only down side is apartment J04 make sure you don't go food shopping before checking appliances work!!
Ended up having to eat out every night as our cooker didn't work, and when someone checked it they said the element had failed and nothing could be done.
What was a well budgeted holiday of 700 euros ended up costing 1400 euros and a freezer full of wasted food with no reimbursmant.
****AVOID****Booked for ten nights in July with family incl 3 kids. When we arrived we were told by man on reception that due to overbooking we were moving to sister hotel but assured it was in a good location, nice hotel etc. This was a complete fabrication. Spent one night in sister hotel which was completely unsuitable for family and in the new town 15 minutes drive away!!!!and returned here next morning demanding they honour the original booking. Met with a wall of denial "not our fault" "speak to your travel agent" "nothing we can do". At this stage my eldest child was in tears as we argued in reception for half a day. Eventually got relocated by travel agency but I would most definitely recommend avoiding this complex or risk being "overbooked". An absolute disgrace and we did not even get an apology. Worst holiday experience of my life.
Such a good holiday! Couldn't fault these apartments, would definitely recommend. We stayed here for a long weekend. Ended up staying in a bigger apartment than we booked. The apartment was clean and only slightly dated. Only downside was no air-conditioning which in 30 degree heat was not fun. The grounds surrounding the apartment were maintained really well and couldn't fault the pool area. Staff on reception were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
