Beautiful garden with seating to relax in the summer
Lovely choice of breakfast , fresh yogurt and choice of cooked breakfasts

A good spot to act as a base for Petworth House
Aidan Con 19/06/2017 05:34Our main reason for visiting the area was Petworth House. Chequers was ideal for us. A clean and comfortable room, a good breakfast and barely-noticeable noise from the road. We also had dinner in the restaurant on both nights and enjoyed watching the live feed from the blue tit's nest outside. It was bettter than having music, sport or the news blaring at us. Staff were nice and friendly and we wouldn't hesitate tto stay again. Free parking very close by was a bonus. There are some lovely walks nearby in all directions.
Overnight stay
angie056on 14/06/2017 11:46Wow! What a little gem! Very pretty from the outside, tucked off the busy main road. Limited but easy parking. We were welcomed warmly inside and check in was very easy. Our room was immaculate, well decorated and with lovely accessories adding that bit extra. Everything creaked, floor sloped bathroom door tiny but that just added to the room. Meals were served in the spacious, airy conservatory overlooking a very pretty garden. The staff were so warm, welcoming, friendly couldn't do enough and the food was delicious. Ample portions served piping hot and very quickly. Really wished we could have stayed a few more days . Would highly recommend staying here. Thankyou to the Chequers Hotel for making the end of our little holiday so special.
Last night
Bftonon 10/06/2017 18:40The last night of our trip, greeted by the front desk warmly and then shown to a quirky old room well the house was built in 1548, great shower and lovely food served for dinner and breakfast and a local real ale on tap which was a nice drop a lovely place to stay for grown ups oh did I mention the 4 poster bed..
Expensive for small room next to road
Jenny Con 29/05/2017 15:08Unfortunately we did not end up in one of the spacious quiet rooms with nice views as referred to in other reviews. Room 9 was uncomfortably small (nowhere to put your bags and could only just about walk around small double bed) and it overlooked the busy A29. It was hot so we had to have the windows open so were disturbed by noisy traffic. Bathroom was also extremely compact. £140 for this was very steep! On a positive note, room was clean, breakfast was tasty and dining area attractive.
