Family Friendly Place in the Heart of Nice!!
Rseshaon 27/08/2015 04:25We couldn't find too many hotels in Nice that could accommodate a family of four In a suite or a big room. But Chez Brigitte fit our needs perfectly when we found it by searching on the Net. The place is a bit hard to find. So carry a cell phone that works in France before you go there late at night or during off hours. The reason is we couldn't find the place and had to find a phone booth nearby that would allow us to make an old fashioned phone call to Brigitte to get the code to enter the place. I wish she would email it to you when you confirm your reservation. This way travelers will not be troubled.
We got a large room with 4 beds and it was overlooking the train station. So it was noisy at night but we were so tired we slept through that noise. There was no AC which is a common occurrence in France so we were prepared for its absence.
The person managing the property was kind enough to let us use the washer for getting our clothes washed which was a great help. We dried the clothes manually in the room using a cloth hanger she gave us.
The kitchen was clean and we used it for breakfast.
The bathrooms were clean and roomy.
All in all a pleasant stay as long as you take care of the parts I mentioned before.
Charming, great value place to stay in Nice
Bill Jon 21/08/2015 17:19We found both Brigitte and her guesthouse altogether charming. The location is very central and handy for the station. Although it is located across the road from a train line and motorway, we weren't unduly bothered by the noise. The rooms and public areas are clean and pleasantly decorated in a kitschy, quirky style. If you want to cook for yourself while in Nice there is a well-equipped kitchen. There are no staff on the premises for most of the day, but Brigitte is very helpful if you contact her by phone, text or email. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Chez Brigitte to anyone looking for somewhere cheap and cheerful to stay in Nice.
I loved this place, quirky and very close to the train station
Lisartion 21/08/2015 16:45I have read a few reviews on here that seem quite negative but I really loved this place.. I found it to be very charming. Lots of quirky ornaments and pieces of furniture about, I loved the old building, it felt very authentic. Air Con worked brill, wifi was grand. I loved the three bathrooms, one had a really deep old pink bath with a shower head attached. Old fashioned but quirky would be my description.
Instructions from the train station that were provided by hostel bookers was fine and we found the building easily. My sister called her when we arrived and she gave us the entry codes into the building as we were early. I would almost recommend emailing her for these beforehand. Brigitte was very friendly and helpful on the phone and in person and she didn't mind us going in a bit early and dumping our rucksacks.
We had been travelling on the train all night so I conked out and had an amazing nights sleep, we had a double bed which me and my sister shared and I found it very comfortable and clean. We only stayed one night and had a very early start the next day so it was wonderful that it was only a couple of minutes from the train station.
I would say a 10 minute walk into the main part of Nice and it was only 10 minutes away from the Chagall Gallery which suited us great. I would happily stay here again. Cheep and Cheerful:o)
Best place to stay
Márton Son 07/08/2015 10:51We found the door but nothing were written there. We called the given number and she told us how to get in the flat and the room. She is really nice and hospitable. There was AC in the room and WIFI. It was really nice and spacious! I could only recommend it to anyone, hope to go back next year!
Fine guesthouse
Claire Non 26/07/2015 10:55We had a fine stay at Chez Brigitte. It's location is very good, near the central station. The place is quite clean, and it's nice that you can use the kitchen. The place is a little bit old though with a lot of old decorations. The place would look much cleaner and better if she let go of some furniture and decoration. I would recommend to contact the owner for the access codes of the building.
