Lovely resort, great safari guides, honest & reliable staff
tsuyincon 10/06/2017 18:10We thankfully arrived here after a terrible scam was uncovered-- in which Blue Sky Travel & Tours was passing off photos of this beautiful place as belonging to a different hotel in town-- Chitwan Safari Camp & Lodge-- and hoping tourists wouldn't notice. After several hours of sorting it out (and a threat to cancel the credit card payment for the package deal we'd purchased through Blue Sky), we were finally brought to the real property. That's right-- this place is so luxe, quaint and charming that another hotel entirely tried to trick customers into believing it was this place!
Mr. Chandra Gautam, the beyond-friendly head-guide here has been doing jungle safaris for 8 years now and is a total professional in resort management as well. Most of all, he was a really upstanding guy-- completely honest and reliable and never tried to sell us anything we didn't want-- very rare in Nepal.
Even when he discovered that the owners of Chitwan Safari Lodge and Camp had been stealing his would-be customers, he was still a perfect gentleman. The rest of the staff were great and responsive to all our needs, and the food varied and tasty.
We learned tons from Chandra and the other smiley guide Bikash. Not only did we see tons of animals -- a rhino, crocodiles, birds, baby elephants, wild boars, deer, peacocks, to name a few! -- we got to enjoy the company of honest, knowledgeable and friendly staff who never seemed to tire of showing off their gorgeous national park to visitors. (As a side note, these guides spoke some of the best English we've heard out of tourism workers throughout this country!).
If you want to come back to a comfortable and spacious garden resort after an animal-packed safari, and not want to have to worry about being scammed OR breaking the bank, then this is the place for you! Highly recommend!
Decent place irritating staff
ross138cbon 20/03/2017 16:05We stayed here for 3 nights.. the riom was nice and it's in a good location but the manager kept on trying to get me to pay him to book things for me. He called to my room multiple times and once quite drunk barrated me in a child like way to book through him, when it is far cheaper and just as simple to arrange activities in chitwN susch as safari's yourself. It was very irritating having to avoid him our whole stay.
Great Staff and Beautiful Surroundings
Murray Won 16/03/2017 21:24Arrived here after a very arduous day in a bus from Kathmandu on worst roads and traffic I’ve ever seen. The resort is situated in a Chitwan National Park. Rooms are cabin/lodge type. Quite basic but very homely although you can hear everything from your adjoining neighbours through the roof.No TV, which I didn’t miss, air-con which we didn’t use, good shower, toilet etc, water bottles provided, but no tea coffee facilities. Twin beds with a heavy duvet and, nice touch, a hot water bottle every night to warm the bed. Beds were very comfortable.
Staff were lovely, happy to chat but quick to serve you. Perfect.
The meals were fantastic. Better than almost all the 5* hotels we had stayed at, with beautiful views of the river and forest from the outdoor dining area. The barbeque type meal on our last night was one of the highlights of our trip...enhanced by the dancing by the beautiful local girls which was a stunning spectacle of beauty and precision.
We did the jeep safari and saw a couple of rhinos, crocodiles and wild boar from a distance but those that opted for the elephant ride had a much better experience and we wished we had done that.
The place was a relaxing oasis after the chaos of the cities. The only downside was the hair raising road journey to get there.
Caring staffs and nice environment
Christineshulinon 12/02/2017 16:37Our schedule were managed by hotel staff, they were professional guides and take care of us so well. We have such a wonderful time here. The room was good, hot water, Wifi, TV, bed is soft and clean, and food is really delicious.
Peace and tranquility
Rob Hon 17/01/2017 15:37After the busy and dusty city of Kathmandu we loved the peace and tranquility of the inner garden of the Chitwan Forest Resort. We also loved the flexibility of the manager and his staff (e.g. kitchen) in helping us to make the most of our stay. We enjoyed the activities in the national park, the food, the hot showers (the first after two weeks) and the help with our transportation to and from Pokhara.
