We stayed at the Cava Spada last August 2016 and we couldn't wait to return.
My family of six, 4 adults and 2 children booked 2 pool side view rooms.
Sadly we will not be returning to this hotel anymore as it did not live up to our expectations this time.
We booked last sept and we requested the 2 rooms we had last year or the same block, I understand it's a request but we were not given the rooms and not even allocated 2 together, which upset us at check in.
The holiday started going downhill from then onwards,
The pool is absolutely freezing, so much so the adults could not swim all holiday and when the 2 children ventured in they could only manage a few minutes.
The hotel only has 2 nights entertainment, the rest of the week absolutely nothing to do in the evenings, bar was mostly empty and no atmosphere, the Hotel is quite remote and so left us having to have plenty of early nights. No entertainment provided whatsoever for the children day or night.
The showers in both our rooms all holiday were a nightmare, as soon as you got the temperature right and stepped in, they constantly kept running scalding hot and freezing cold and your only option was to keep stepping in and out until the correct temperature returned, we could not let children shower and had to bath them, also there was a terrible smell of sewage coming from the drain by the toilet and we had to constantly spray air freshener.
We stayed all inclusive and we were very disappointed as most nights the food was very cold, we went to the a la crate one evening, the food not good and we did not eat.
There was one bar b a night which even as having paid all inclusive prices we were charged 10 euros per adult 5 euros per child and again food was terrible.
The staff and management were all very pleasant, Poppi in the evening serving our drinks was again a delight and can not speak more highly of her lovely nature.
But all in all our holiday was disappointing and will try somewhere else in future
A lovely hotel with loads to offer.
The staff are friendly and welcoming, rooms are clean and have great views and the overall hotel is brilliant for 5 stars. It's greek 5 stars but is still fantastic.
The food is really good and the buffets are extensive and offer any age or diet a huge amount. Great variety and highly recommend going all inclusive as it saves you having to think about paying for drinks etc.
Suitable for families and couples.
Only criticism is the Al la Carte food is phenomenal but it's taster portions so hearty appetites I recommend you have something to eat before you go.
Would definitely come back
It was our second time visiting this hotel. We had loved it the first time and loved it even more this time. The level remains very high in all aspects. Always clean, the room spacious. The pool is magical and the food too! Everyone is polite and ready to help. It is an ideal hotel for any type of holiday. We will surely be back a third time. I suggest it go anyone undoubtedly. I also propose to receive a spa treatment as it was great and professional! Thanks to everyone in the hotel team for an amazing and relaxing vacation.
Booked this hotel as a mini break without the children (they were with grandparents). The main pool by the beach is beautiful
However
The rooms need updating (ensure you book a room by the pool by the beach regardless) and the towels are off white and frayed and all far off a 5* hotel standard. We had problems with lack of hot water, drinks ordered whilst relaxing on a sun lounger that never arrived, check out (and in) process lengthy, unnecessary and painful due to their accountancy policy and rooms just not at the standard to be charging the amount per night that they do.
On the plus, buffet breakfast was great and the staff are very friendly.
This could be a great hotel. The location is great, there is ample space, rooms and areas are large, there is a spa, the swimming pool leaves little to be desired. Moreover, the staff was very nice.
However. Not that clean; e.g. the cover on our couch bed had a discolouration from removing a stain (can't think it was still dirty!!) also the bedding smelled funky. Towels were frayed - which is unacceptable for a 5-star hotel and 250 euro a night.
Amenities really basic.
On the plus side, great breakfast buffet (one of the best I have seen) and very nice staff.
