What People are saying

Quaint, clean, and relaxing

This is a delightful B&B in the mountains of New Hampshire.

Various rooms to choose from, a nice setting slightly off the beaten path. Delicious breakfast (omelettes and house fries were very good!). Indoor pool was small but fun for the kids. Overall recommended for traveling with a family or as a couple.

Tip: Bring your own coffee. While there is some coffee in the rooms to choose from, and free coffee available in the main inn, neither are good. There is a little shop (Autumn Nomad, Cakes & Cafe) nearby with good coffee.

Nice place

We stayed from July 23rd through July 28th 2017. For what we had, I thought it was over priced. But we did research the room during their special 1/2 promotion. We stayed at one of the rooms in the carriage house. As another reviewer said, the room glasses were paper, and the bathroom was large, but with a lot of mirrors. The gas fireplace was a nice touch since it was chilly at night. It was strange that the living area did not have a DVD player, but the bedroom did. We found the bed to be very old and creaky. our daughter stayed in the pull-out bed, and that was creaky and noisy too. the indoor pool is very small. Don't be deceived by any of the photos on their website. the outdoor pool is across the street. The dining area is lovely, but the meals are very expensive. We only ate there twice, because quite honestly, it was just too much to spend. We drove into North Conway, and for at least 1/2 the cost we had a lovely meal at May Kelley's. We would definitely stay there again, but only at a discounted rate. Also, there is no room service and you can't take your meal back to the room. This is definitely a big negative for us.

Simply Lovely

It is such a charming place. We stayed in the main building at the top of the stairs. It is a little quirky....after all the building is a couple hundred years old! Our room was clean and comfortable. Hotel and restaurant staff were friendly. We enjoy sitting by the fire pit and sitting on the front porch. Breakfast was very good. We'll pick this place to stay at again.

Lovely place to stay

Spent a lovely couple of days here - and would have liked to have stayed longer. Full of charm, and very cosy I would imagine staying in winter would be a magical experience.
Friendly desk staff, and also spent a couple of evening chatting with the owner and his son in the very nice bar area.
Nice touch was the fire pit out front which I think is lit most nights. Great to chill out there and listen to the sounds of the forest around, and chat with other quests over a glass of wine.
We did eat once on the bar which was nice, and huge portions.
A couple of reviews mention it looks a little tired which is probably does in some places but the owner is in the process of updating, and it is certainly not enough to put you off. If you want pristine this probably not the place you'd want to stay but if you want rustic and cosy charm then you'll love it.

Okay but needs to be updated

We stayed for 3 nights July 21-24 in one of the Carriage House rooms. On first glance the room was lovely, large bedroom, sitting room with gas fireplace and a deck. Also a mini fridge (that worked very well). But after settling in, I realized how tired everything was including the televisions which had poor reception. Also, the room seemed dirty especially the bathroom and the bedding. The bathroom is a bit too Las Vegas for my taste with this enormous tub and a tiny shower (which smelled of urine) and mirrors everywhere. But the thing that bothered me the most were the cheap amenities: one bar of soap for the bathroom, low grade shampoo etc... two tiny wine glasses with all other glass made of plastic or paper! in a room that cost $250/night?
There is a small coffee pot but barely enough coffee for two cups. Also, the air conditioning in the entry way and sitting room was out of order and it was almost 90 degrees when we arrived. No one at the front desk mentioned this to us. However the AC in our room was great, no problems there.
Now for the positives: very quiet room, the food in the restaurant was very good and plentiful, especially the breakfasts. Everyone we met who worked there were terrific. The setting is lovely, the pool is fine, a bit old and chilly but good sized. At night they built a bonfire near the old inn and we sat outside and met many interesting people.
So overall I enjoyed it and will go back but it would be so simple to provide some basic amenities to the room that matches the quality they hope they are as a resort. (Speaking of resort, I thought the $10/day resort fee was a bit much and not mentioned in the reservation process)
