"A gem in the pines"

My husband & I wanted to get away for a weekend so our dog could experience snow for the first time. We found the dog friendly Christmas tree inn online for a reasonable price. We were very impressed with the owner/ manager Tim. His pride of ownership really shows . What a nice guy! We felt like it could have been a B & B if breakfast were provided! He gave us perfect suggestions for dining.
This is not a 5 star hotel but I'm giving it 5 stars because we were so pleased with the hospitality & setting. Our room was clean & spacious & met all of our needs. The towels were nice & the bed was comfortable. The small refrigerator & microwave was a nice addition. When we ran out of coffee packets, Tim gave us more. We look forward to returning to this beautiful area & to see our new friend Tim!

Great room for a night at a good price

Owner was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and spacious. A great value for an overnight stay in the area. Having had some bad experiences in the past with locally owned roadside inn's, I was very wary. This place, however, was well run, well maintained, and held no unpleasant surprises.

Stuck in the 1970s, but Not Chic or Retro

We were in Yosemite National Park and we needed a room for one night. We found the Christmas Tree Inn listed on Priceline outside the park. The listing said the inn had a rating of 8.8 out of 10 and there was one room left. The price was $115, but we were charged $119 plus $12 tax. I assumed the hotel would be quaint, but pleasant from the picture and review score. Quaint and pleasant no, beat yes. The bedspread is at least 30 years old with holes. The sink was cracked. Stains were on walls, lampshades, chairs and rugs. Cigarette burns on blankets. The furniture was in my college dorm during the last century.

Amazing management for such a small motel

Honestly, I was a bit worried when I booked this motel. It was not on my intended travel route, located in the mountains, in an area that doesn't seem to see lots of tourists, and is not operated by any chain. Who knows how bad could it be. It turned out to be one of my best motel experiences in US.

The old gentleman at the front desk (maybe the owner?) was the kindest motel staff I have met. Without asking he told me how to reach my room, how to find the hot pool, and a few other things. The motel was pretty small, about 20 rooms only. But somehow it was managed more professionally than most motel chains. The room was not new or luxurious, but very clean, and has a pleasant smell that belongs to a hotel that costs twice as much. A number of information can be found in the room, including a regional tourist guide paper which I found interested, a TV channel guide which I believe every hotel and motel should have, but rarely seen, and wifi passwords. The room size was OK and they had everything l need - microwave, refrigerator, coffee machine, and hair dryer. The room size was just fine. And while it's located next to a highway like other motels, there's little traffic at night so it was pretty quiet. I didn't use the hot pool since it closed pretty early but it looked good. Actually the whole motel ground was maintained very well, they even managed to place multiple garbage bins around the area in case you suddenly want to throw something away.

Being surround by pretty trees, you certainly won't call it a "resort" but it's almost as good as a motel can be. Usually in my review, I like to list a few things I don' like about it. But for this one, the only downside I can think of is there's no McDonald's within ten minutes drive, and who cares.

Great place to crash at its price

I booked a room near Yosemite on short notice for Memorial Day 2016. Then I got stuck all day at Yosemite due to overcapacity and did not get to this inn until almost midnight. The manager was already in bed, but the night button raised him off his bed. It was a pleasant to meet someone so cheerful being woken up at midnight to check in a guest. The room I got was super clean. The towels were so new and of good quality. I am very impressed by this inn and will stay here again.
