What People are saying

a lovely luxurious surprise

tony mon 03/12/2014 15:53

very quiet as we arrived as very few guests... but a revelation. Lovely surprise of an urgrade into a beautiful suite with all modern conforts and a gorgeous view of the unspoilt valley and its river.
Charming personel, luxurious environment and a romantic venue.
Only shortfal was there was no restaurant on-site, but at local village: a confortanle and cosy auberge...

Beautiful but empty !

Arrived after a long journey from the uk to find No lights on, No other cars and a huge beautiful chateau completely empty apart from one receptionist lady! She showed us our room which was three single beds shoved together? Though we booked a double , and we asked "are we the only people here" to which she answered yes, the place is alarmed throughout so best stay in your room until I'm back tomorrow morning!
No bar , no food , no milk or sugar or kettle
For a drink and the electric gates locked so we couldn't go out either! Seeing as we were the only people we were also surprised that the room was single bedded ?
As I have low blood sugar and thought we would have had dinner there -we had to phone the receptionist back from her home for sugar and live off two tiny biscuits and four tiny sweets, and go to bed before 10pm as there was nothing else to do .
The next morning we heard the receptionist and she said our breakfast was laid out for us and it was a lovely continental spread in a lovely sunny room. We sat outside on the terrace with coffee and enjoyed the beauty of the chateau and grounds and the views .
What a pity the previous evening had been so bleak , because the chateau is spotless clean and beautiful just lacked food and people !

Luxury and elegance

We stayed for two days in late October and had the whole place to ourselves! This was a lovely surprise and for the same price as a club room which we reserved we were given one of the luxury suites instead. The hotel manager was charming and a friendly conversationalist with some helpful suggestions of places to visit. Breakfast was excellent in the gorgeous breakfast room which captures sunlight all day. Dinner is not available at the hotel but this was not a problem and we found a lovely restaurant in Ry, the next village, and Rouen is only 20 minutes away by car with lots of choice. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay in this secluded chateau and would recommend visiting historic Rouen, Giverny (for Monet's house and superb garden) and the lovely village of Lyons le Foret.

Magical place

We were here for a wedding but didn't stay over unfortunately. But WOW what a stunningly beautiful place.
The service and friendliness of the staff was fantastic and the wedding was so romtantic and beautiful. The owner of the chateau brews his own lager and it really was a nice. There were 2 types available a blond and darker lager more like a bitter, both equally good.

We had a really great day here and would love to return and stay over night.

Too expensive

We booked online as we always do only to find wne we arrived the chateau closed and we were in the gate house on our own., Luckily there were 6 of us but creepy and it meant we had to go to town to find dinner. I don't think its fair not to call us to advise we were on the property with no other guests - and that the Chateau was alarmed. I think when you book a hotel you expect there to be staff etc. Not cheap. the gatehouse was beautifully decorated but all the towels and bedding smelled damp and the TV was missing !! not even a tv for the evening. A poor effort for 350 euros for the night.
