What People are saying

Excellent Hospitality

We stayed here mid January in fact the hotel opened just for our management meeting. We stayed for two nights. The rooms are very well appointed and the views stunning I should imagine in the summer it would be idyllic.
Now to the food! The food in my humble opinion is Michelin star standard every meal including breakfast was excellent. The wines being chosen and carefully served by the chefs father. Anna the owner was a fantastic host she explained the food and wine choices and ensured we were perfectly looked after.

ONCE AGAIN A BEAUTIFUL, RELAXING STAY

A much needed return to Chateau de Longcol to enjoy its tranquility and incredible customer service. Anna is the most wonderful host and along with her staff our stay was exactly what we needed.

The rooms are beautiful and the beds and pillows so comfortable. Lovely big bathrooms to.

We had booked a Gourmet Getaway package and once again the food was stunning. Antoine chose perfect wines to accompany our meal.

Thank you Anna, we will be back.

Arrived yesterday afternoon after a long cycle journey. Our host and staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Wonderful large room overlooking the valley.

Dinner on the terrace was spectacular with a view that could be mistaken for a South American rain forest.

Meal and wait staff lived up to the view with last night being our most memorable meal during our 2016 France Adventure.

Only regrets are that we are here for only a single night.....HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Superb

Superb place, people, location, service, quality. The surroundings are beautiful. The rooms absolutely clean and well designed/furnished. Great breakfast. Very nice restaurant and set menu. Difficult to find but it makes it even more appealing. I will certainly repeat the experience.

Depressingly awful

Following several great reviews from friends who have eaten here recently my wife and I decided to book lunch at the restaurant to celebrate our anniversary, and did so giving 72 hours notice of our intended visit

As we were both working we arrived separately and so I was surprised when I drove into the car park to see only 2 other cars 1 of which was my wife's. She was talking to man as I arrived who departed as I parked up and once I got out of my car she explained that he was a hotel customer who was most annoyed as he was locked out of the hotel. Sure enough the doors were firmly shut despite it being a couple of minutes after the 12:30 slot they had given us.

Figuring they were just a little late in opening we took a gentle stroll across the lawn in front of the hotel as I had been told that the view was spectacular, (it was OK at best), and was slightly disappointed to see the lawnmower resting behind a pallet, which for the price they charge for the rooms here I thought was a little shabby.

From the lawn I could spy what looked like a beautiful courtyard above with the most beautiful buildings on 3 sides of it, (see the picture across the pool at the top of the page, although be aware that this must have been taken with the widest lens possible, the pool cant be more than 6m front to back), anyhow it looked so lovely that we went up to investigate.

As I mounted the stone steps up to the courtyard, I notice the seating area with wooden teak chairs (all of which had peeling varnish) but never mind and walked into the courtyard. The jewel in the crown of this lovely courtyard should have been the infinity pool overlooking the valley, however the wow factor was completely lost when I walked closer to the pool and found it was so full of green algae it looked like stagnant, canal water. The steps were caked in it and I am guessing the bottom and sides of the pool too as it was impossible to see. If I had paid to stay there with use of this pool I would have been mightily peed off. I was just thinking how it looked like someone had washed their dog in it, when the owners Alsatian came running over and spent the next 2 minutes trying to sniff my balls.

At this point I was getting a bit fed up and that was only made worse when the owner approached us and us if she could help. My wife explained that we had a reservation for lunch, however we were told no, they were closed, and that the chef was not there. My wife asked why they had not called her as had specifically give them her mobile number when they took our booking, but was fobbed off with some lame excuse.

Bearing in mind that meals here cost roughly 60€ plus per head and price of staying here is matched by Paris and London I thought the place was a total joke. My wife still wants to eat there, but I am not bothered at all if I ever visit it again. My guess was that as they only had the 2 of us booked for lunch they really could not be bothered to light the stoves, and if they cant be bothered I don't see why we should be either.

This hotel could be beautiful however it needs to be bought by a chain who can invest some money into the fixtures and fittings, a wooden door to hide the lawnmower, a pot of varnish for the terrace furniture, a good pool cleaning team, and some decent staff.

We left and drove to the Oustal du Barry in Najac, where we had a marvellous lunch with excellent service in lovely surroundings.
