Relaxing
AndAndersonon 08/09/2015 16:37Pleasant overnight stay. Nice large room/bathroom. Kids in "loft" area above our room which was nice, but very hot.
Nice outdoor pool area. Only a couple of other families there so it felt like we had the place to ourselves almost.
Nice walk around the grounds with a small chapel. Very pleasant.
We ate in the nearby town, about a 10 min drive away - recommended by the young girl at the Chateau.
Breakfast not great, the juice and bread had ran out and was only refilled with the bare minimum.
Would stay again if in the area.
A nice break in Burgundy countryside
AlessandroT77on 20/09/2014 11:31If what you are looking for is a quiet week-end in the countryside, this place might be what you are looking for.
The chateau is located near the city of Nevers, but it is off any main road, between the vineyards of Pouilly-Fumé and Sancerre, so you are far away from any source of noise.
The sandstone building is in the middle of a large estate with a lot of old trees and a pond. You can have nice walks in the countryside or relax in the outdoor swimming pool if the weather allows it.
The chateau offers individually decorated rooms, all with views on the surroundings. They are spacious and clean, with original parquet floor and woodworks.
The breakfast is ok; you can have a traditional continental one, or go for something more substantial.
Value for money is not excellent, but still worth going.
What a find
Stephen Won 03/07/2014 13:19What a pleasure to stay in this lovely hotel. The owner was most welcoming and helpful. The room with it turret bathroom was a delight. Breakfast was very good and the attention to replenishing the buffet was very good.
I have read some adverse comments about the chateau in terms of lack of facilities. From a careful read of the website I knew what to expect. We always travel with a travel kettle and coffee so we were no inconvenienced in any way. How much better to stay here rather than in an anonymous chain hotel on a trading estate.
Delightful!
Jeanne Son 28/04/2014 21:07We booked this at the last minute during our travels in France. It was a wonderful find! The young man who welcomed us was so helpful, friendly and accommodating. We explored the grounds, including the enchanting chapel which is being restored by the owners. Sat by the pool in the sun, though it was a bit too cool to swim. Our host went out of his way to make suggestions for local restaurants and sites in Nevers, and the next day helped us plan our route to take maximum advantage of the Loire Valley castles during our limited time before we had to leave France. The breakfast was ample and delicious. We would definitely return!
Chateau Delight
Jaymaitchon 25/04/2014 00:32Almost exactly halfway between Calais and the Med is this most beautifully restored Chateau, the reception was warm and friendly and the rooms charming and spacious, The grounds are well maintained adding to the overall experience, There are top quality local eateries (The Bengy) to complete your stay. Ask to see the Chapel in the grounds about 300 meters away, a great venue for a marriage. The delightful main town of Nevers is about 6 kms away. You will not be disappointed.
