PatriciaInPurpleon 06/08/2017 04:32I was very pleasantly surprised by this little gem. There was always something some sort of sweet or cookie set out in the lobby. Everyone I saw on the desk was welcoming and helpful. You feel at home from the time you arrive. Everything I wasted to see was within walking distance This was pure luck as I did not know the city at all. It was a bit of a walk from the train station but close to everything else.
I left each morning well fortified with the excellent breakfast - the room is busy but there is a lot that is self service so you can get started before your eggs are ordered or served.
I love this place and I hope that I can return to Freiburg in the future so that I can stay again.
Nice Hotel in Downtown Freiburg
paulwU2974UUon 21/06/2017 21:48I stayed here for three nights in March 2017 and was very pleased with the comfort, cleanliness, and attentive staff of the City Hotel Freiburg. It is located right at the Freiburg train and bus station, so very handy for travelers. The higher floors also offer lovely views of the city.
A great 3 star hotel
Betinaon 30/04/2017 15:54I last reviewed this hotel in 2009. I could simply copy and paste what I wrote then.
I was glad to see the owners have not neglected or compromised on the good standard of this hotel. They added their 20 years old daughter to the staff (temporarily) and we were delighted.
We stayed three nights. We got the bigger room, our name and address were still in their computer even though it has been over 7 years since we last stayed there. The room was spotless, the breakfast does not seem to change much, the variety is great, eggs and sausages, different jams, cheese, rolls, bread, yogurt, juices. Tea, coffee milk and chocolate drinks as well as cereals.
The prices changed a bit from 4-5 years ago.
There is a charge of 10 euros for the garage.
Free internet connection: You should be able to connect to the Internet for free but during our stay, there were problems which hopefully will be solved.
I find this hotel very convenient for shopping, walks and quick connection to the main routes in and out of Freiburg by car.

John Pon 16/07/2016 16:14Our second night in Germany was in Freiburg and the only problem we had was getting to the hotel. The whole city is under construction. The City Hotel is perfectly located for seeing Freiburg but there are many pedestrian/bicycles only roads in the area. But the hotel was worth the difficulty getting there. The staff were helpful and efficient and the room was comfortable and airy. The car park was next door and the underground and you walked up one flight to the reception. Breakfast was better than we expected and we would return to the City Hotel.
