What People are saying
Close to the city center

During the booking process I said I'd arrive at a certain time. However, I arrived one hour before and my room wasn't ready (totally understandable). The receptionist said that he would talk to the cleaning lady right away to make my room first so I could come back in half an hour and have my room ready. Not half an hour but one hour later (the time I was supposed to have my room ready according to my official arrival time on booking.com) I went back and the cleaning lady was having lunch and didn't know what I was talking about (so I guess the receptionist forgot to tell her I was going). She said that my room wasn't ready and that it was her lunch break, so I had to wait again for about one hour (even though I was supposed to arrive at that time). This had never happened to me in any other hotel. I was tired because I had been travelling for many hours and my room wasn't ready at the time it was supposed to.
The morning after my first night the room was very cold, and the heating was at its minimum. So I turned it up after breakfast and went to have a walk in the city center while I wasn't there so the room heated up a bit. When I came back, the heating was down again (both radiators), obviously to save energy, but the problem is that the radiators didn't heat up much (at least in the room I was), and that's why I wanted to leave it on for two hours, so I didn't freeze to death.
The walls are very thin, so you hear everyone talking.
No elevator, so if you're planning to go with a lot of luggage I recommend requesting a room on the first floor (subjected to availability).

Superb cleanliness. I'm allergic to dust and didn't sneeze once in this hotel.
The breakfast is okay. Not much variety, but a lot of quantity if you're usually hungry in the morning... perfect for me. The woman in charge of the breakfast makes sure everything is in order.
The hotel is located in a quiet street and is within a walking distance to the city center and therefore one doesn't need to spend in public transportation.
Sauna/Cupboard room
Hannah Fon 19/05/2017 10:33I visited City Hotel with my colleague for a business trip. Despite the central location which was handy, we were shown to our rooms on the top floor. Sweltering, small rooms with a shared bathroom for the whole floor. No mirror, 1 flat pillow. It was especially warm outside, but even with the window open all night, this still did not relieve the temperature in the attic room. I asked if there were any alternative rooms, to which the response was 'no'. Yet the management did not try to make my stay comfortable by offering a fan. This was a very unpleasant two nights! In terms of the facilities themselves, it was impossible to have a shower without flooding the bathroom. The basin tap in the bathroom was loose and sprayed everywhere when turned on. In room 34, there is an ugly bit of material covering the plumbing underneath the basin. A shoddy hotel which needs updating urgently.
Stay elsewhere
Michael Qon 11/05/2017 09:20Small rooms, small bathroom, not many amenities. NO wifi yet they advertise that they do! Breakfast is ok but nothing spectacular. To expensive for what you get. There is a nice balcony that is as large as the room but the view is only of the back of another building. It was clean however and they did provide towels but the usual complimentary bathroom items like shampoo and soap was only offered as handsoap dispenser you find in a public restroom.
Central but ageing small hotel with mediocre facilities
cpviolatoron 19/03/2017 22:05Positive: Central location, very close to Neumarkt underground / tram / bus interchange and shops, though the street itself was fairly quiet. Breakfast is included and includes a reasonable selection (breads, boiled egg, cheese, meat, fresh fruit).
Negative: Hotel building has no noise insulation and thin walls so you hear almost everything in neighbouring rooms and on the staircase. Wi-fi was broken the first 2 days (out of 4) so I was forced to camp out in cafes and restaurants. Given these problems and the high price for a lower mid range hotel (over €120 a night!) I wanted to leave after 3 nights, but no dice as it was pre-booked. After arguing at length with staff I finally got a slightly better room. Although generally clean, various things in the rooms and the building were slightly broken or noticeably worn, e.g. lumpy pillows of indeterminate age, loose tap fitting in the sink. In need of maintenance / renovation.
Ok
Martijn Von 26/05/2016 12:49Friendly staff and a small but clean room. Reasonable value for money. Breakfast was small but had very good quality with fresh bread and milk, coffee and orange juice. Hotel not much to look at and had more of an apartment feel than a hotel.
