A Reasonable Alternative if Closer-In Hotels Full/Expensive

I picked a busy week for a business trip to Osaka, during the Tenjin Matsuri, and by making my reservations late I didn't have many choices for a reasonable (under $100/night) hotel. Since I am an experienced traveler in Japan (9 year resident), I was not troubled by having to take several trains and to ask for directions at the station.
Bottom line: the New Commander offer a comfortable room, a spacious indoor and outdoor bath (ofuro), and a quite good American breakfast with refills on coffee. The bed was comfortable and the room had a small refrigerator and coffee/tea maker. I found the service very good: I borrowed an iron and ironing board, there is a coin laundry in the building, and the staff was very cordial. There was WiFi but I cannot comment since I didn't use it.
Be aware you need to switch trains at least once if coming in from Shin-Osaka. From Shin-Osaka you could take the Midosuji subway line to Yodoyabashi Station for 4 stops, and switch to the Keihan line for 5 or more stops, depending on whether you take one of the variety of express trains.
Unlike another reviewer, I did not see any entertainment area at this station, and certainly not surrounding the hotel (5-10 minute walk from the station), so don't be concerned about that.

So so

I think that it was more of the old building
Voice becomes directly transmitting the room is narrow, the wall is thin.
The price is not cheap at the rate of of the room.

Good value, cheap, close to train station, local facilities

This is another good solid hotel, cheap and simple, small but clean rooms, great Japanese baths, 5 minutes walk from Keihan lines for travel to Osaka and Kyoto. If you seek good Japanese nightlife then this is the spot, Neyagawashi shi goes off, great bars, a lot of sleazy places if thats your thing, but a heap of other great bars and places to eat, you will find yourself the only Westerner in the area, good safe feel though with typical freindly Japanese locals out havin a good time
