Highly recommended

Great location, as you can easily walk to Beijing's most famous shopping street and other landmarks, such as the Temple of Heaven and the Forbidden City. A metro station is only a few minutes away too. Staff are very helpful and can speak good English, so there is really nothing to complain about!

Bad experience

ViVi_8052on 03/06/2016 15:38

We booked 1 triple room for 3 person through agoda. When we checked in, the reception gave us a double room without inform us anything, we just realized that is a double room when we stepped into the room. We then have to went down to the reception and requested to change it. After we settled down, we realized that the room got NO hot water! Everything are fine, except there is NO HOT WATER for 5 nights!!! We need to take turns and wait for the receptionist to call us to shower at another room one by one!!! Finally, our room have the hot water supply on the final night. Upon checked out, the receptionist did some routine cross check for the room. They claimed that we used their condom, and requested us to pay for it. In fact, we never open that drawer and we don't even realized that there are some condoms in the room. After some arguments, we still insist not paying for the condom which we never even know the existence of it. This is truly a very bad experience we had with this hotel.

Great location! Blocks from Forbidden City

My wife and I stayed at citytel inn for 5 days during the last week of January 2016. We were on the 3rd floor which is the same as the breakfast buffet restaurant they had. Buffet was convenient of you're not trying to find a breakfast spot during the below freezing temps in Beijing during January. They have various dishes from boiled eggs to fried rice, toast , chicken nuggets, melons, cooked greens, coffee and juice. What was odd was the price for breakfast was quoted different each of the 3 times we ate it. So to be fair it'll be between 25--35 yuan per person. Double bedroom mattress was quite firm. From our 3rd floor view we could see the forbidden city buildings lit up at night so location is awesome for primary sightseeing in Beijing. Just 3 blocks to main shopping street Wangfujing which has restaurants, street food, pharmacy, shopping malls, Nike and apple store, etc. Subway train station was also located on wangfujing street which made getting to attractions outside walking distance a breeze. Highly recommend the summer palace during winter for frozen lake sledding!

Our room had no English TV stations but not a problem for us. Shower is separate from toilet and slippers were provided for shower. At times the bathroom had a mild sewage smell coming from the drain. Water bottles were included in the room along with free tea bags and hot water heater jug for tea (boiled water in less than 2 minutes-- great for those freezing winters)

Front desk staff understood English and were always helpful and polite. There is a tour booking office as well if you want to book great wall (badaling and mutianyu only), opera, Kung fu show, hutong tours and woman working there spoke the best English in the hotel.

If arriving from Beijing airport, taxi offered 300 yuan, but we declined and he immediately dropped to 200 so don't pay anymore than that to get to citytel inn from airport. It was during afternoon rush as well.

Recommend based on location and friendly staff.

Good location and value for money

Stayed here December 2015 for 7 nights. The reception does not speak English but the one in charge of the tours does. The hotel is around 10 minutes walk to Forbidden City and also around 10 minutes walk to Wang Fu Jing street where the shopping and food district is. Across the street is Niu Ge Dumpling restaurant, which is a must try! The chicken & mushroom dumpling and the soy sauce fried rice are our favorites. The room was clean. Shower was also good. Good pressure and hot water always available. Breakfast not included. You have to pay 25 yuan per person for breakfast. The taste is not so good. But with the food district near the hotel, there are a lot of places to eat nearby. Will definitely stay here again if we're going back to Beijing.

be careful if you will reservation this hotel, it is always problematic when you will check in.

Staff also manager aren't familiar with reservation booking.com. I stayed 10 days at this hotel, with a few reservations (all via booking.com). Any reservation will always be problematic when i will check in n take long time to wait the staff to check our reservations.
Two of my reservation even they claimed there was no reservation,I was very uncomfortable.I even to argue with staff about who cancelled it coz me n my hubby no cancel it but the staff say if the reservation already cancel by us, fortunately the booking.com staff help me by phone.
Another issues is three days our stay, there was no hot water to shower, so we had to shower in the public bathroom.
I also had argue about concierge with the manager, i go to Shanghai n i leave 1 baggage at this hotel when i am back to take it, they charge me, it isn't about the value of money, but "service to customer". When i leave the baggage i already explain i will back this hotel with new reservation, total our stay 10 days, the staff already say "ok for free". I think it is unethical to charge again when we will take it.
Pls be careful if you will book this hotel especially if you can not speak chinese, will get a lot of unpleasant things like us.
