Quirky but overpriced and needing maintenance
Runfangirlon 08/08/2017 22:15There are fun things to see at this place and a lovely view from the restaurant terrace. An overnight stay to take in some British colonial era faded glory and quirky things might be worth it but probably not longer than that.
However, it really needs some maintenance with things like the power shorting out and heating being more effective. The wood fire they light of an evening next to the reception creates heaps of smoke and not much warmth as it is in a corridor. The smoke from this filtered up to our room upstairs and was quite unpleasant. The restaurant is quaint but the food not that great.
Enjoy a heritage stay
ridhi_agon 30/07/2017 12:29Short on time and looking for a really quick getaway? This is the place to go.
Cochrane Place in Kurseong is a place antique in its look. Located on the way to Kurseong, you will surely be away from the hustle bustle of the small town of Kurseong.
The property is cosy, warm and antique. Very rich in its decor.
The place is well maintained and clean.
At night, you can see the light of the town flickering afar. With crickets creaking and absolute stillness, it is a perfect place for anyone looking to get away from their chaotic life.
Do try out the different teas at their tea bar. The guy who serves there, has been working there for 12 + years and is got good knowledge about tea and their fusion processes. Absolutely a stunner !
Facilities available:
Wifi, parking, a restaurant with an outdoor seating and a view

ankurkandoion 18/07/2017 16:06i had gone to kurseong for complete peace of mind.. it hardly takes around 45mins to reach here from siliguri..
its a heritage hotel but the maintenance is not that great.. in my room, the wi-fi signal never reached.. for using the internet, i either had to go to the lobby or to the restro..
the view from my room was breath-taking.. it was simply amazing.. i loved it...
i had stayed in this hotel for the first time.. i had come earlier also to this place with friends but then i had only been to the restaurant..
one must stay in this property at least for one night to enjoy the beauty of nature..
Stay experience at a heritage hotel
Nikitasha Gon 30/06/2017 05:50We arrived at Cochrane place late in the evening and we were here for one night. This is a beautifully maintained heritage hotel, which is a restored & renovated stately British colonial home. The room that we were allocated, was decently large with a small balcony overlooking the mountains and the houses in the village below. There are meshed windows to let in air, while the balcony doors could stay shut. It was well decorated, with wooden antique furniture's beautifully arranged in the room and paintings hanging on the walls dating back to the 18th century. The bathroom was compact and clean, lukewarm water was available as well.
Our dinner was a buffet and the spread was fairly good. A live performance was a bonus for us as it made the environment much more romantic than it already was.
Next morning, we were awoken by the melodious chirping of the birds and bright sunshine pouring through the windows. Sunrise happens here as early as 4.30 am in early June. The view from our room was breathtakingly beautiful. Small houses with thatched roofs built on the slopes of the hills, and the clouds rising up enveloping the mountains behind them made a beautiful sight to see, early in the morning.
We stood in the balcony soaking in the beauty that surrounded us, breathing in the fresh unpolluted air. :)
The breakfast buffet that was provided to us was equally good.
In addition to this, they had a very well maintained garden below, showcasing a variety of flowers specific to the region. There was a little souvenir shop within the hotel premises as well.
Overall we experienced a good comfortable stay, with good food and undisturbed sleep.
Mixed Bag really
Saikat Son 11/06/2017 06:26Was at this place for my school re-union. Rooms are well appointed. With wooden walls. Good beds. Clean linen. Clean toilets. The views on a clear day can be awesome. Its slightly away from Kurseong town, just above Makaibari Tea Garden. The food was decent, though not sure if it was because we arrange special food for ourselves. The Nepali Aloo Dum was awesome. The service is not that great. The owners are not very customer friendly and tend to do penny pinching. If you are driving, there is limited parking available. And no drivers' room mind you. The management or staff will not even help the driver with a blanket if they want to stay overnight in the car. And typically you cannot do without a car, since Kurseong town is good 3 km away. So its fix. The driver will have to stay in another hotel in town, unless you are funding a room for the driver in the hotel itself.
