Friendliest staff ever!
ajewel2on 04/08/2017 01:53The location was close to Kentucky Kingdom. The staff was one of the nicest I have ever experienced, from check-in to the staff helping with the free breakfast to the check-out. Rooms were clean and spacious. Free wi-fi, fridge, coffee maker, microwave and 2 TV's. Reasonable price. Only stayed one night but would stay again if back in the area.
Great place
William Mon 02/08/2017 20:22Stayed for the weekend. The room was very very clean. I asked for an upper room with extra towels and pillows and it was all there waiting for me. I arrived an hour before posted check in with no issues or wait. The staff was awesome and very friendly.
Not up to Choice Hotel Standards
Jennifer Hon 31/07/2017 16:45We stayed here for a mini vacation with our 2 kids (ages 15 and 2). First off, checking in took a little longer due to the desk clerk assisting a guest on the phone. There were additional employees there, but they were not helping him or us in any way, instead, they were sitting right behind the wall at the desk. (I have absolutely no fault with the guy that was helping us and the other guest, I do however find fault with the employees that weren't doing anything while he was juggling 2 guests and a call to the general manager.)
Secondly, when we went into our room it was extraordinarily dark, we had difficulty finding the light switch because it was on the wall behind the door rather than next to the door. When we did get that light turned on, we turned on the rest of the lights in both rooms (2 room suite - queen beds in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the "living" room) it was still very dark. There were only 2 lights in the living room area and one light in the bedroom on the bedside table. There were lights over the bathroom sink in the bedroom area, but even they weren't bright. With all of the lights on it was extremely dark and we wound up using our flashlights on our phones to be able to see some things. Another awkward issue with the lights is the switch for the bathroom fan and light was outside the actual bathroom. The room was clean from what we could see, but it was in a bit of disrepair. There were tiles missing in the bathroom, the bottom drawer of the dresser was broken, the closet door didn't open and close right, there were dents/holes in some of the walls, etc.
Thirdly (and likely my largest complaint) was the breakfast. We went out to the breakfast area the morning after check in at approximately 815am (breakfast was available until 9 am). The breakfast area was packed full of people. There were only 2 tables that were available, but they were filthy. The trash cans were overflowing, there was trash on the floor and on the other available table. We cleaned up the filthy table the best we could so we could have a place to sit and eat (especially since there were no chairs in the room that we could sit in to eat if we wanted to go back to the room). I took my daughters up to get food first, there was an extremely long line for the pancakes and waffles, which we later found out was because both were out of batter. We decided to just get biscuits and gravy and an apple juice. There was something majorly wrong with the apple juice based on the color and the smell. I am not sure if it was expired or mixed wrong, but we were not able to drink it. The biscuits were as hard as a rock, I couldn't even cut it up. The gravy was ice cold. We looked and couldn't find an employee to let them know about the cold hard food and the horrible drinks. We wound up at the McDonalds down the street which had excellent food and great employees. We did not use the pool, but based on the noise coming out of that section of the hotel, it sounded overcrowded.
This isn't a major issue, but the location of the towels and washcloths was inconvenient. They were all under the sink, pushed all the way back. We couldn't see them at first until my husband laid across the bed and happened to see one of them.
Despite being loyal Choice Hotel members, we most likely will never stay at this hotel again. There are several hotels in the area that we will be choosing from in the future. I definitely wouldn't choose this hotel for more than one or two nights.
