What People are saying

Not what I expected

ashleymarie589on 16/08/2017 19:01

We arrived later in the night and checked into our room. When we got in our room we noticed a moldy/ musty smell to it. The bathroom was gross, the light in the bathroom was flickering on and off and there was no ventilation in the bathroom. The dry wall above the shower was peeling and had stains all over. The room was dirty. There was dust above the headboard, There was a hole in the comforter. The refrigerator that was provided didn't keep our drinks cold and sounded like a ticking time bomb. The walls are paper thin. In the morning while getting ready we noticed there were no towels and we asked the cleaning staff for extra towels and there were none because they were being washed. The maid did show up with two (dirty looking) towels. I was not satisfied with my stay. I chose to stay at this hotel because it is a branded hotel and expected it to be clean and well maintained but that was far from it. For the price we paid for 2 nights the room should have some standards.

Limited things

The breakfast durning the week was limited & ran out of some things. Saturday & Sunday was fine. Parking at night had limited spaces to park. The lot filled if you didn't return early. Had no towels in our room when we arrived.

Good stay

After some of the earlier reviews I was a bit uncertain whether to choose this place but I did, anyway.
We had a friendly check in, the room was ready and nice and clean, and there were no issues at all. The room was large and everything functioned well.
Wondering what some of the earlier reviews were about, we asked at the desk and it seems that there had not been a full- time manager there, now remedied. The desk staff did not look like Hollywood Casting’s stock images of young suit- and tie / blazer and A- Line skirt professionals – they were a bit alternative for sure – but they were attentive, knew what they were doing, efficient, on top of things and professional in their jobs.
The free breakfast was basic but good and the staff kept on top of keeping everything stocked and clean.
The location is convenient to many things, and you can walk to several decent restaurants and brew pubs. There is some nice architecture to view on walks. There are a few down- on- their- luck- types around but I never felt any sense of insecurity. Rupert’s Bar (same block, very local but good), Comensoli’s Italian (great, across the two busy streets), Bigg Dogg brew pub (five min walk, good brews, did not try the food) and Bell’s brew pub (great brews did not eat, ten min walk) are all within realistic walking distance for most people.
Park early, and walk or Uber to dinner. The parking lot does fill up, and there is no street parking allowed. For whatever reason – maybe the mayor owns all the towing companies – everyone sews up their parking very tight and you do not get away with any on- street parking or freeloading in a lot that might seem to be available. If the Comfort’s lot is too full to park, a ticket for parking on the street is cheaper and more convenient than having your car towed from someone’s lot.
The only thing I did not like was the soft water – it’s a matter of personal taste, and the soft water feels slimy to me. If you like, it, great, it’s there.

Great value

The hotel was newly remodeled and very clean. The beds were also quite comfortable. The breakfast was typical of a basic breakfast you would expect. The staff was pleasant and did do a nice job of replenishing the food and cleaning the breakfast area. Like others have mentioned, it does have a tricky entrance, but once you figure it out the first time, it is fine. The website says that it has a fitness center, but that is inaccurate information. It does not have one.

Comfortable night

We were stopped to visit the Gilmore Car Museum the next day. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. They had a decent breakfast. We were in walking distance to several restaurants. This was a good stop for the money.
