Great hotel. Close to The Henry Ford
CO_Roadwarrioron 24/07/2017 23:59This is a nice, clean hotel and it's only about 5 minutes from The Henry Ford Museum / Greenfield Village. The room rates were also very reasonable. The breakfast is typical Comfort Inn, but that's to be expected. I definitely recommend it and would stay there again.
Comfortable & well located
TheMoruya2on 24/07/2017 00:4910 years ago my wife and I visited Dearborn/Detroit to visit "all things Ford".
We enjoyed that trip so much we returned in July to see and do it all again. This time we decided to stay close to "The Henry Ford" and "Greenfield Village" by staying for 5 nights here at the Comfort Inn.
We arrived from the airport around midnight and the receptionist, although she found our booking, queried whether we had paid for the room or not. I had to dig into my bags to find the paperwork to prove we had paid in advance. This shouldn't have happened.
The room was spacious, BIG in fact. It was comprehensively equipped, clean, with a massive bed. The bathroom was also clean and had the softest towels I've ever had in a hotel.
The hotel offers a free shuttle that will take you anywhere close by, within reason. Not just to the Museum and the Village but to Fairlane shops and in my case to the Avis office in order to rent a car for a day.
Just up the road is a "Tim Hortons" and the brand new "Fords Garage Restaurant", so there's no excuse for going hungry when you stay here.
Housekeeping is thorough. We always had fresh (lovely and soft) towels and the bed was made every day, with a sheet change on the 3rd day.
The very reasonable rates of this hotel include breakfast. BUT, this is a bit of a weak point, unfortunately. If, after fighting your way through the crowd to construct your breakfast, you make it back to your table without spilling any of it, you'll more than likely spill some of it when either yourself or someone else bumps into your table and rocks it. None of the ones I sat at seemed to have even legs and I don't think the floor was that unlevel. Still, this isn't really anything big to complain about. At least they provided us with a good breakfast.
Now, this following point was the only real disappointing thing that happened here.....
My wife and I were sitting having our meal in a very crowded breakfast room. There is a space down between the tables for people to walk through the room to the guest rooms on the lower floor. One of the cleaning ladies on staff, was trying very hard to maneuver her trolley between the guests and their tables when she bumped into our table. A red vacuum cleaner fell off the trolley and hit my wife fair square on the face, causing her to burst into tears from the unexpected shock. This was also embarrassing for the cleaning lady who apologized profusely. In the end there was no harm done, just a very red nose and cheek. This situation needs to be addressed in this hotel. More space for the workers and the guests. It COULD have been something serious.
Apart from that, our stay here was very good. I'd be giving it 5 green dots if the above 2 incidents hadn't happened.
Would I stay here again? Most definitely.
Okay, Not Great
Printman2000on 19/07/2017 19:00Stayed here two nights on two different occasions. We were arriving/departing from the train station at late hours so this hotel made that possible. We were a party of four, two parents and two teenagers.
First night we had a king bed with a sofa bed. Sofa bed was unusable. The mattress was really, really bad. Felt like it had wires in it instead of springs. One teenager chose to sleep on the too short couch rather than that mattress. We changed our second reservation to two double beds.
The hotel overall is good and bad. Lots of dirty, smelly hallways. The rooms are pretty clean, though the bathrooms are pretty worn out. Lots of updating needed. Bathtubs should be replaced. The air conditioner was ancient! Though worked okay.
Breakfast was pretty decent with plenty of room.
I would not choose this hotel again.

Maria Gon 12/07/2017 13:42Comfort Inn near Greenfield Village is a great value. The rooms are clean and the furnishings new. Unfortunately, there is a smell especially when you arrive that takes getting used to. We stayed for 3 nights and were fine. The complimentary breakfast is good.
