Great Hotel
David Ton 13/07/2017 13:34I had a wonderful stay at Comfort Suites. The bed was very comfortable. The room was spacious and very clean. The shower had good pressure and lot's of hot water.
The breakfast in the morning was pretty standard as hotels go, but it was good.
The hotel staff were friendly and always had a smile. They made me feel welcome.
Wish I'd liked it better, but...
Tex4non 30/06/2017 03:11I wish I had liked staying at this hotel, because the price was great, the staff was very helpful, and the location in S. Tyler was perfect for my needs,
But...
The hotel, and my room in particular, had strong smells that were hard to ignore. My room had a very strong chemical out-gassing smell like fresh vinyl flooring. By the second day of my two-day stay I figured out that it was not as bad if I kept the temperature higher in the room--no lower than 74, which isn't ideal for sleeping in the summer in E. Texas. But it wasn't a pleasant experience either way; at the higher temperature the room felt a little humid.
The water pressure in the bath was very high, and the shower head was fixed at about a 45 degree angle and couldn't be adjusted. It sprayed the wall and far side of the tub rather than coming down on your head, and was like needles on the skin. On the plus side, you could get plenty of hot water without waiting.
Another plus is free wifi, very simple to access. And, unlike some older properties, there were plenty of outlets for electronics.
The free breakfast is pretty average. Heavy on sweets, but did have an egg and protein selection at least. Some cut up fresh fruit would have been nice.
Stay if:
You want a low price
You need to be close to South Tyler
Free breakfast of any kind, and free wifi are important
Indoor Pool and jacuzzi are a plus to you (great for kids)
You'll benefit from a generously sized mini-fridge and a small microwave
Don't stay if:
Strong smells bother you
You have dietary restrictions or preferences for breakfast
You prefer a newer property
You need an actual kitchenette

tdvideo7on 05/06/2017 15:38We have been on the road for one and a half months now and this is by far the nicest, largest, cleanest and friendliest place that we have stayed. The front desk staff is SUPER friendly, the cleaning staff do a good job. The facility was wonderful for us and the room was fabulous. We had a sitting area in the room that made it even more convenient to visit with our relative whom we were visiting. Beds were great! Great pillows, everything in the room that you could need. Shopping and restaurants are very close for the convenience. Honestly, I wish we could take this hotel with us the next 6 months of our travels in the USA.

Pleasantly surprised
bjackson1217on 29/05/2017 15:48We arrived in Tyler with reservations at another hotel that was so unkempt we couldn't stay there. We drove by Comfort Suites and decided to stop to see if they had any rooms available. They gave us a great rate with the military discount. The front office staff was so accommodating. Very pleasant. As you walk into the hotel there is a huge decanter full of lemon water for your enjoyment. They also had a snack area for those who like snacks. Entering the suite my first impression was the roominess. Two queen beds with a separate sitting area. Lots of plug ins for all your electronic devices. Nice size fridge and microwave are included. The beds were top notch. Clean bedding and great pillows. The water pressure in the shower was outstanding! AC in room works perfectly. Nice and quiet. No complaints.
They have an inside salt water pool and hot tub that we took advantage of both nights included with pool towels so you don't have to use your room towels.
Continental breakfast was typical but good. Eggs, ham, waffles,biscuits, fruit, cereal, etc...The one thing I would say about that is some things needed to be microwaved and they only had one so there was a line waiting for that. I would suggest putting another microwave in that area to speed up the line. Other than that, it was perfect.
In the future, this is our "go to" place when we're in town. I highly suggest it. Thank you staff for making our stay the best.
