What People are saying

Nice but need serious updating

Carolyn Pon 08/06/2017 20:12

Stayed here one night with a group of 30. Room and bathroom were in serious need of updating but the grounds were pretty and there was an amazing fresco in one of the meeting rooms. Dinner was fair. Our air conditioner didn't work. There was a large party in the courtyard below our window that evening. Room was very dark. Would not choose to go back on our own but served the purpose fine.

Interesting

This is serious barebones accommodations, though, gives one insight into the history of the monastery and travelers from hundreds of years ago. .The room and bathroom were clean, however, the mattress a bit lacking. We had a slight mosquito issue, which was quickly resolved. The common areas were nicely laid out and accessible. It is a short walk into the city or to shops nearby.

I'd keep looking if possible

We stayed here for three nights and by the morning of the third we couldn't wait to leave. The location is decent, you can really walk anywhere in Florence and this is no exception even though it's further from the city center.

The windows had been open when we arrived which I appreciated, but there were no screens and therefore several mosquitos got in. We did keep the windows open in the evening the rest of our stay because when we turned on the air conditioner it smelled. Unfortunately we would then wake up with ample mosquito bites. Not what you're looking for when staying in Florence.

The breakfast is probably comparable to other places but very basic. Yogurt, cheese, cold cuts, and croissants.

Unless you get lost like we did you don't get to see the beautiful stained glass windows and frescos in the church. This hotel boasts about the beauty and history but you don't experience that just staying as a guest. I felt a bit swindled and very disappointed.

We would not stay here again. Albeit it was clean, the staff were friendly, and the Wifi was decent.

Okay place to stay.Great location.

The room was basic. The morning breakfast is nice and a good way to start the day. The place is closer to bus stops. Its also closer to the Pitti palace and Boboli gardens. Easier to get to the city central by walk from here.

don't expect anything fancy - but it is an option

This is an odd place to review. Once a monastery as many have said in there reviews, and still connected to a chapel/church externally. Sometimes it still feels (or rather, looks) like one. It does not feel like a hotel - possibly more like a large boarding house or a more formal version of a backpackers (i.e. with rooms). Don't dismiss it though... read on:

All in all this is somewhere you can go on a budget, and if you are not planning to spend too much time in your room. It is a great starting point for exploring Florence. Easy walking distance to the 'tourist' part of town, you get a sense that you are 'living' in the city rather than visiting.

What you will get:
- vey clean bed linen and changed often (more than some expensive hotels)
- a clean room (but generally small and basic - see below)
- a TV (but only Italian options)
- decent wifi (free)
- one of the smallest lifts / elevators I have ever been in
- breakfast if you include it in you booking (I didn't)

What you won't get:
- Iron or kettle/tea/coffee facilities in room (not allowed by Italian law apparently)
- Laundry service (you can pop out and use any of a few laundries close by - they can be expensive)
- place for dinner
- place for lunch
- room service
- business centre
- in-room luxuries
- etc etc (you get the idea....)

You decide.
