What People are saying

Hotel gone right down in service and quality

I usually tend to write reviews only when I have been really impressed and wish to express my thanks. However in this instance I am compelled to write a very different review. My husband and I have stayed at Coombe abbey hotel several times over the last 10 years and have noticed the service slipping but this stay was by far the worst. We stayed in the Lindley suite for our 21st wedding anniversary hoping for a romantic break. Upon arrival we had to wait almost an hour because our room was not ready. When we finally got to our room we found the bath dirty, the carpet had not been hovered, the glass table in the lounge covered in dirty marks and coffee stains and the overall state of the suite looked tatty. Our evening meal was included as part of the package but was not as tasty as food I can cook myself at home. When we checked out the reception desk informed us we had been charged an extra £17 for supplements added to our evening meal that we had already paid for as part of our package stay. We had eaten no extra food other than the 3 course's available in the meal we were provided. We do not drink so only had a bottle of water to drink with our food. On top of this guests now have to pay £5 for parking. We paid just under £400 to stay one night and left with a bitter taste in our mouths and several poor words exchanged to the reception desk. We won't be back to Coombe and advise anyone thinking about staying to think twice. Save your cash.

unique and very special

as a first time visit we are both blown away by the building, facilities and friendly supportive staff.
the owners have been able retained the classical heritage that the building deserves offering a unique and bespoke. Surrounded by well kept gardens and grounds ideal for many occasions.
although the the builds has the feel of stepping back in time and an air of grandeur., the food menus on offer demonstrate the skills of a skillful and modern kitchen team.

Celebrate a 60th Wedding Anniversary

From the moment we arrived we were treated with great care. We were met by Dan on arrival who went the extra mile to maneuvering my two elderly parents in to the hotel and lifting and shifting wheel chairs to even parking our car. GREAT old fashioned service with a smile.
We had booked afternoon tea for family and friends but I mentioned to the reservation lady Sophia how my dad had just gone in to a care home and needed a lot of care and could not stay with my MUM that night. This distressed my DAD he just wanted to lie on a bed with my MUM and hold hands.
Sophia arranged for us complimentary to come to the hotel a couple of hours early and gave our family a beautiful room where my mum and Dad lay on a huge bed together holding hands whilst my sister and I ordered them Champagne and reminisced about the old days when they first got WED and played them their wedding song. It was a magical day we would not forget .After noon tea was delicious and the restaurant manager went above board to spoil my Mum And DAD. I can not praise the staff enough the whole day was truly Magical my MUM and Dad where over whelmed with the care and attention we received. I will defiantly be recommending Coombe Abbey to all my friends and family .

Room With A View: Olde Worlde Loveliness

Mo Pon 16/08/2017 11:05

We were fortunate enough to attend a summer work do at Coombe Abbey... What a venue!

Once parked up, we walked in and admired the architecture and some of the lovely rooms overlooking the moat. When we checked in, to our absolute delight, we were lucky enough to have one of these delightful rooms. I've stayed in a lot of luxury hotels and whilst this wasn't the most luxurious, what 'A Room With A View'! So many windows and such scenery to behold.
The room was quirky, lots of irregularities but it was old and bursting with charm. The bathroom could do with a bit of modernising, perhaps, but the antique sofa, dressing table and medieval romantic bed were utterly in keeping with the olde worlde-ness.

The conservatory, both for lunch on arrival and Sunday breakfast, let down the overall Coombe Abbey experience but I will write a separate review for the restaurant as it was not the quality that the hotel merits.

Get married here ☺️

Quick short review

Came here for a family wedding on the 31st of July and it was lovely. I have been to coombe abbey plenty of times in the past in the park and surrounding area but this is the first time I have been inside the hotel and its lovely.

Up there with one of the best venues I've been to for a wedding but then again for the price it's what you expect. The food was lovely and the service was excellent.

This was a also my first Muslim wedding and to have curry for my main course was a welcome treat. Had a good look round the hotel also and that looked very good also that's why I can only give it 4 stars as i haven't been inside the rooms yet.

I would highly recommend a wedding here I would love to get marry here would be a dream come true.
